Poor Engineering
The most serious engineering flaw with the Broan range hood is the placement of the halogen lamps at the front underside of the hood. I personally observed steam, smoke and cooking odors when cooking on the front burners being drawn directly to the lights from the heat produced by the lamps. Even when the exhaust fan is running at high speed, it only draws a portion of the steam, smoke and odors up through the exhaust. I believe placing the lamps near the rear underside of the hood would allow the exhaust to run more efficiently and effectively. An optional metal back splash would also add more style and a more useful tool for utensils.
