FreeFlex Third Rack
The largest third rack available has a deep, angled design that fits 6" glasses, mugs and bowls. It features rotating wash jets to clean items in the rack, a drying bar with tabs that help wick moisture off glasses and a removable utensil tray for cooking

Fan-Enabled ProDry System
combines a heating element and fan for optimal drying performance. It circulates hot air around dishes after the wash cycle to give them a thorough dry. To activate, select the ProDry Option or Extended ProDry Option.

Advanced Clean Water Wash System

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mom's Choice from Great Choice for my Family I bought the 604 Kitchenaid dishwasher (D), and it is amazing. I am 60 years old and I have had many many D in my 40 year marriage, but this one is the best with the 3rd rack that holds cups and glasses!! (I load mugs in the middle tray) We are a family of 4 and I run 1 load every single day of the week!! Before I used to load my D and then be left with extra items, then I used to have to re-adjust the items I already loaded to try to fit in the items that were still outside the D. It felt like a puzzle trying to make everything fit. Not anymore, I load it and usually I simply run it on "Pro Wash". The directions say I do NOT need to rinse my dishes. But I am in the habit of rinsing every item before I load it, most likely because I always felt my previous D did not do an excellent job. I have used the Kitchenaid D for 1 month, and every item is sparkling clean after the cycle! Before, once in awhile, I used to get an item that was not 100% clean, so I would need to lightly scrub and rewash in the next cycle. Not anymore. So far, every item has come out 100% spotless. I inspect every single item I pull out of the D! It is very satisfying to have 100% sparking clean items! I have a bedroom right next to the kitchen, and the D is quiet enough not to disturb my daughter. Last Sat, I turned on the D while my husband and I cooked, and the D was quiet enough it did not bother our conversation. I thought I needed a quieter decibel, but even though I have hardwood floors in my home, the noise does not travel out of the kitchen. Noise is really not an issue anymore, and our house is an older 1300 sq ft with mostely and open floor plan. I had to chose between a Bosh that was super at drying and super quiet decibel, but it had a lower load capacity, but for me I need the ability to load everything in 1 load. Mostly I throw in everything including the pots and pans and all plastics. I love to see my kitchen counters clean and empty, I do not even like to have clean dishes drying on the rack, so having the ability to load everything is perfect for me. Noise is not an issue, and if it ever was and issue, the D has a timer so I can run it when I leave to work if I wanted to. But so far, I just run it with no noise problems at all. My only reservation is there is a bit of water on top of the cups sometimes depending on the cup construction, and the tupperware plastics are slightly wet, but I usually use 1 paper towel to slightly wipe these items as I am storing them away, it is not a big deal for me at all. Since the paper towel is wet but clean, I lay it out to dry and reuse it. I hope this is helpful to someone.

Key criteria: quiet operation (one open living space), sturdy adjustable racks, format of the rack tines.(Can some fold down? Yes). My friend has a Bosch and I hate it due to its limited versatility in terms of how you configure your plate/bowl placement. I consider loading my dishwasher as a lovingly orchestrated work of art(ok, not really but I do find satisfaction in a neatly loaded machine). This KitchenAid has excellent versatility! You can adjust the rack heights, play with the plate/bowl placement, mix plates and cookware freely. The true challenge was when I had 14 people for dinner. This machine neatly loaded everything except my wine glasses. (I like to hand wash them anyway but did not find the machine having a good option.) There is even a user friendly top (3rd rack) that handles pesky cooking utensils, knives, small bowls and glasses, etc. I am SO happy with this machine and appreciate the sturdiness and design. My ONLY criticism is that the controls are very sensitive to touch and I have a bad habit of touching them when I open the door to add items. I find that I often have to hit the “cancel” button to not activate the wash, delay start, etc.- not a big deal. Hopefully, this dishwasher gives me years of service!

I have only had it a little more than a week and used it 3 times so far, so time will tell. So far, so good. I had trouble with the previous KitchenAid dishwasher after 3 1/2 years. It was under the store warranty, so after numerous parts were replaced, it was deemed unrepairable and this one was an exchange. It seems like a state of the art machine, and many improved features were made since my purchase a few years ago. I pray it lasts, because I do love this one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wife was tired of other brand not being very roomy and leaving dishes wet through the night after a full dry cycle, it's out on the curb now. This one, with extended dry, which also has a fan, leaves the dishes nearly completely dry. If there are divets where water pools on dishes it may still hold a little water, but nothing like other brands of dishwashers that come out soaking wet. The top drawer and adjustable center rack are nice features too. Install was a pain as its sits flush with floor, had to re-drill for wiring since where the wires poked through the floor, it would hit some components underneath. Overall, wife satisfied with this model, the washing part and the drying. She does run it on the tough mode with high heat, sanitize, and extended drying modes.

Is the heat vent on the side or bottom ? I clearly see some models have the vent on the door. Does that effect the door? I have an older model with a black door and the vent is located on the door now causing bubbling, rust and pitting.
