About this Item

Overview

Wolf DD30 Downdraft

Let's face it: ventilation probably doesn't rise to the top of your list of dream appliances. Yet what a smoky, pungent place your kitchen might be without it. (Particularly if you're fond of garlic.) Wolf downdraft ventilation rises 14 inches from the countertop to whisk away smoke and odors from the smallest saute pan to the largest stock pot. Your nose will be thankful, and so will your eyes. And it has a multitude of ingenious features.

When not in use, the downdraft lowers into your countertop to provide clear sight lines in your kitchen. It comes with a wired remote control that can be placed up to 9 feet away, undercounter, or in an adjacent cabinet. An indicator lets you know when it's time to run the filters through the dishwasher. In sculpted stainless steel, it pairs perfectly with most Wolf cooktops and rangetops. Available in 30", 36" and 45" widths. Internal, in-line or remote blowers are sold separately.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed I brought the 30"downdraft back in 2015 when I remodelled my kitchen, I loved it and it looked fantastic. It also worked very well however it failed less than 3 years in considering I hardly ever use the cooktop I was disappointed. By agreeing to use an installer that Wolf recommends (paying quite a bit more) I had the extended warranty and the downdraft was fixed at no charge to me. Fast forward to July 2022 and once again the vent won't go up or down and now I have no warranty, two visits from the appliance guy, a new main control board, new distribution board and new remote control and cable and it still doesn't work Most troubling of all is the rust that has accumulated on the cover boxes underneath the cooktop unit. The only explanation I have received is when cooking with oil the vent sucks the oil down and coats the metal boxes with the oil which then attracts the moisture to it, hence the rust. Now two guys want to remove the vent and check the micro switches inside the vent. At this point I'll be paying more to fix it in parts and labor than a new one would cost. Also should a buy a new one considering I've only had this one seven years with very light use and it has failed twice.
