I am loving my first smart lock!
The August smart deadbolt is super easy to install and secure. The compatibility with multiple smart home ecosystems is a plus. The auto lock feature is very convenient. The auto unlock feature works perfectly. Be sure to add your home WiFi networks under "Auto-unlock" in the August app.
Some users complained about battery consumption, I will have to report back on that. In an attempt to conserve battery power link your lock to a 2.4ghz network. I purchased the August "Connect" WiFi bridge to offload the WiFi power consumption and extend battery life

Great Smart locker that just does it job!
After struggling with automatic lockers and very unsatisfied with their performance and design, I tested the August locker. It’s performance and app are so great that installed on all my properties and I just really on it to assist my guests remotely.
If you want a reliable, simple and smooth locker don’t go far. August - Yale is what you need for peace of mind!

I've been using these locks on my front door and the door from my garage for about 2 years and they work perfectly, exactly what I wanted. The batteries only last about 3 months and need to be changed, that's the only issue I can even think of. They're great.

Upgraded to Gen 4 from Gen 1
Purchased a replacement for my original 1st generation August Lock which finally showed sign of excessive use and wear. Our family of six, includes 3 adult-sized teenagers which are very hard on all appliances in our house, gave the first lock a true workout. The Gen 1device started to randomly stick in the open position even when it indicated closed after multiple attempts to auto lock.
The new replacement installed flawlessly, the device synced up with retaining all original user settings in the August app (with exception of individual phone re-activation of Auto Unlock permissions). I discovered that I had to reset my old Gen 1 August Lock to factory settings via Reset, to remove it from the August App queue.
I really like the door position sensor included with my new Gen 4 August Lock.
I’m a longtime user of an August Lock device and am pleased with the performance of my new one.

Step aside sladge
I have purchased several sledge locks which either had WiFi enabled or needed an adapter for WiFi, which never worked. I’ve had my August for over a year and I have replaced both of my sledge locks at the duplex I own.
I really wanted not to like August over my sledge, but they August had won me over. It locks itself and knows when I am approaching to unlock. Easy to create temporary codes…. All with ease.

Tried a few this one is the best!
Love the auto lock feature and that it works for the 2 of us that live here. I didn’t connect it to Apple home kit and seems to work great without it.

Smart without looking smart
I love that this looks like and functions like a regular deadbolt. No one from the outside knows you have a smart lock, and you can use your key as usual.
Don’t use rechargeable batteries, you’ll be changing monthly. Regular batteries last a good 6 months.
I wish the detect was a little bit faster, sometimes I park and get to the door and it’s not open yet. But most of the time it’s smooth.

The most convenient addition to my condo.
It’s so nice not to have to worry about finding a key ring to have the door ready when I arrive. A scheduled temporary pass can be granted to friends and family just as easy.

Easy to install and so convenient. No wiring!
I wanted something that wouldn’t alter the exterior of our condo. The August lock fit the bill perfectly and has worked very well for us. I love the fact that the door unlocks automatically when I come home. Being able to give codes to friends and service providers is great, too. I have found the battery life to be quite good: usually 5-6 months for our two-person household.

Perfect lock for apartment dwellers
I have had an August Lock for a few years now and love it. I use rechargeable batteries with it that get swapped out whenever the lock tells me to and have never had an issue with it.
The install was super easy, I even put the magnet on the frame so the lock knows when it is closed or open. (I highly recommend this) The lock barely required anything to be done to the door such that my landlord is perfectly happy with it too.

Will not work if door tight against jamb
This is an excellent product. Well made. Easy to install. Phone support was excellent. Bought with set of rechargeable CR123A batteries. One piece of missing information I wish I had known (presumably applicable to all smart locks) is that if your door fits tightly against the door jamb as many do, requiring light pressure against the door to fully engage the deadbolt, you will have to move the strike plate so that no pressure needs to be applied to allow the deadbolt to move to fully locked position. Otherwise the smart lock will not work. Two problems with that: (1) making that change will compromise your air seal; (2) it is extremely difficult to make a sight move of the strike plate due to the existing holes and needed new holes being so closely aligned. With a high security strike plate like mine with four 3+ inch screws secured to the stud you might need to replace the door frame or even the stud to which it is mounted to avoid compromising security. I chose to keep my existing deadbolt and return the smart lock.

Simplicity.
I love that I can sit in the car and unlock the house before exiting the car. It’s all done for me remotely. I love it. My son introduced me to this. He had at his apartment. We thought it was great so we installed it in our house.

LOVE my smart lock!
Bought this August lock in 2021 for our new house and I’ve loved it ever since. No need to give my kids or other family or guests keys and I always know who and when the door is opened or closed/unlocked or locked. The app is super easy to use and it looks like a regular lock from the outside so it doesn’t draw hackers attention. I recommend it!
