Great product for slide-in stove
I did a lot of research before I chose this downdraft and after using it for 2 months I can honestly say I am impressed! The 4 setting of the fan are so helpful and it does capture the steam, smoke, and odors effectively. It is easy to clean which is a major factor for me and the reminder feature is helpful. For those of you that want style, this is a classic which looks so nice. I chose the Best flex blower which is powerful, but also quiet. I did have this unit installed but watched and saw that the options made it easy for the contractor which also saved me money. Sorry, I do not have any Cons. Great products!!

Bought this for a kitchen remodel and am VERY happy with it. It looks great, does a great job venting odors, the light is very helpful when cooking. Overall a great product.

So happy with this product
We purchased the Cattura downdraft to go with our new 5 burner GE Monogram gas cooktop which replaced an old GE Profile gas cooktop with an integrated down draft which I hated. Ours was an island installation which greatly limited our choices for ventilation. A typical chimney style hood wasn't an option because of overhead ducting issues. I knew I wanted a downdraft with: different fan speed options, CFM that would effectively remove odors and grease without pulling the gas flame out from under my cooking pots, and a motor that was quiet enough that I would be able to use the downdraft frequently. The Cattura met all those requirements and more. The lighting, up/down chimney feature, delayed off feature, cleaning reminder, ease of cleaning and general appearance were really nice extra features. My cooktop and Cattura have been installed for about a week now and I have used the Cattura under a variety of conditions. Even when sautéing and creating large amounts of vapor and splatter, the #2 blower level does a great job of clearing the air and is barely audible. Even on the noisier highest setting, the noise is far less than on my old downdraft. We chose the PF6 Flex blower which has 8 inch ducting. We had considered going with the ILB6 blower but decided to simplify things with the PF6 remotely mounted just below the cabinet in an unfinished basement. Our only problem with this whole project was that local building codes now require make-up air ducting for all ventilators with CFM over 400. Finding a knowledgeable contractor for the ducting and make-up air was a huge challenge in our large metropolitan area. I vetted contractors who wanted to restrict the higher Cattrua speeds to bypass the make-up air regulation, contractors who didn't know anything about make-up air, and contractors who wanted to use the existing 6 inch duct endcaps. My research indicated that all of these responses raised red flags. Why on earth would I spend so much money on an appliance and then cut its efficiency in half? The ducting also added significant cost to the project. I wanted to add a comment about cleaning the Cattura. The instructions clearly say that the appliance should be unplugged before cleaning. When cleaning, I raise the chimney, unplug the appliance in the cabinet just underneath and then clean everything without having to worry about tripping the sensitive power button. When finished, I simply plug it in again, press the on button, then retract the chimney. I absolutely love my Cattura. When ordering, make sure you have a clear idea of how you will install and what type of cooktop you'll be installing it behind. Knowing these two things will determine how you'll need to duct, and necessary parts can then be ordered at the same time and your installation need not be delayed.

Excellent down draft
We remolded our kitchen and installed a new slide in oven with a gas cook top. We reviewed all kinds of down drafts but none compared to the Best Cattura. Installation was not bad and Best technicians answered all of our questions. It works perfectly and we use it all of the time. It is so quiet because we did an inline blower that is mounted under our house. The light and the fan control are great. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a downdraft.

Excellent air movement
I did a lot of research. This is the best. I had my first unit replaced under warranty with no problem due to a mechanical issue. But it works great. It isn't hard to clean. I love the blue lights since they match my other appliance lights. We had to install makeup air. It Really ended up costing big. But it has a good warranty and was the top model in performance and reliability. Do not try to install this unless you are More than qualified.

Replacing an old downdraft range
We wanted to replace an island electric Jenn-Air. There was no room in our kitchen for venting overhead to a stove hood so this option was proposed. With it, we were able to install a gas range and install the vent behind with a shorter vent run than the previous stove. Installation was a challenge because the venting had to fit in a crowded area of the crawl space below, as well as fit inside an existing countertop and existing cabinets. The unit and blower offered a lot of flexibility.
Appearance is good, especially once we installed the separate adapter piece behind the stove to cover the samll gap between the back of the stove and front of the vent.
Operation: even though the vent run is not straight, the unit clears much more air than the Jenn-Air ever did. When cooking food that needs a lot of venting such as bacon or frying, we have to use the highest speed. One tip is that venting is more effective if you start the fan before you start cooking. The noise is significantly less than before, even at the highest speed. The controls are easy to understand although the up switch is touchy - it is very easy to accidentally start the up switch when cleaning off the unit and you have to wait until it is all the way up to put it down - minor issue. The light on the unit works well.
Overall, I would recommend the unit, especially as a welcome option when replacing a pre-existing downdraft stove.

Not ready for prime time
Many problems with installation by professional installer. Burned out circuit board and control switch. He made several calls to Best/Broan for tech support. Got partially true information. Long story short, it took about 6 weeks and 3 different units with various parts to get this properly installed. Seems way too difficult to install properly and should be redesigned with ease of installation in mind. Ridiculously tiny electrical plug-ins connections in ridiculously hard to reach and see locations. I have it configured with a 5 burner gas Thermador. It has worked properly for about 4-5 months with no issues. There are 4 fan settings. The first 2 are not helpful. Level 3 works OK, level 4 is the one that you will need for adequate smoke / vapor removal. Quite loud on level 4. I gave this a GOOD rating with the hope that it will last many years without further problems. I recommend this product after the engineering department improves installation issues.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! BUYER BEWARE!!!
I bought this unit in 2018 (paid over $3300 (included blower and install) and it lasted until 2022. The small push button that starts the vent to rise and operate quit working. 2-3 weeks later, and $300 it was working. 01/2024, the button stopped working. The repairman said the button and the motherboard needed replacement. That bill is 1350.00. I will find another.buyer beware!!
