Really like the product
I'm really tall, and this hood is not always in my line of sight or I'm not hitting my head on it. Also, we're not folks who want the range hood to be the focal point of the kitchen. This hood tucks up into the cabinet, and it's barely visible when its closed. We've had it for six years or so and have no complaints.
I installed it myself and I'm fairly construction oriented, but you really need to measure twice and cut once when installing the unit. Be sure and carefully read all the instructions and understand all drawings. Also, be sure and stub out the electrical supply at the correct location. In most cases, this has to be installed before you install the cabinets. If you don't install the cable in the correct place, you might not be able to get to it once the vent is installed.

So much better than the down draft
We bought this product in conjunction with a JennAir 36" 6 burner range. It was a complete custom install in the cabinet and is vented with 8" conduit to the exterior using an 8" wall cap.
It has 4 settings on the blower. We've used the 1st setting most of the time, and it is quiet enough to still carry on a conversation. The higher settings are of course louder but the fact of the matter is we don't smell the food that we cooked the previous day in the house. Air flow is not a problem. In fact, the installer joked about being able to stand under the wall cap and dry hair.
One caution...if you're using the hood in a corner like we are, be aware when you extend the hood to use the blower, other cabinet doors could open and be damaged.

This was my mistake
I have had this range hood for about 5 years. I thought I was buying a high-end product and was happy to pay a premium price for it. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to install and is still feels loosey-goosey when moving the slide portion in and out. That's the least of my issues. First, it is the loudest range hood I've ever heard - even at the lowest setting - and that includes many in commercial installations. There is no way to clearly hear anyone even just across the room. To make matters worse, even at the high speed, it does a poor job of sucking up the steam and/or smoke from the stove top. The steam just streams up and around the hood and up to the cabinets and the ceiling. I've had it looked at by other contractors who say it is just the way the range hood works. I'm not looking at having it taken out and replaced with something else. Needless to say, I am very disappointed.
