Great Upgrade
I recently upgraded from a Barista Express to Barista Express Impress. It was a great decision, I love to tamp lever and the automated coffee grind level for the Porto filter works great.

Creates Excellent Espresso Drinks
I was lucky to pick this up at a discount home store and have been so happy with this machine. The buttons and gauges look intimidating but after reading all the instructions and watching a few Breville vids, I am pulling great shots and making all sorts of drinks. This machine is fantastic!! It’s been used multiple times every single day by myself, husband and adult daughter for the past 2 months. Thrilled, happy and saving money by making all our women espressos. Once you learn how to operate this machine, you’ll appreciate everything it can do. Highly recommend! Registered this product and Breville send the free barista kit - with it, i was able to create latte art ( the mugs have lines to guide).

Fantastic Machine
I bought this machine about a month ago, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. This isn't a machine for a first-time home barista who's brand new to espresso- this is actually my third espresso machine, starting with a cheap machine then upgrading as my learning has grown. It pulls great shots once dialed in, and the dialing in process is easy with some trial and error. I'm consistently pulling shots in espresso-range pressure at the right volume in around 25 seconds and they have a beautiful crema. The integrated tamp and auto-dosing are a big plus and worth the extra money in my opinion, and the steaming wand is super easy to use if you follow the instruction video on Breville's site. So far, I have ZERO complaints about this machine, and would recommend it to anyone at the same stage of their home barista journey as I am!

Amazing home espresso
I have had the express impress for a month now and I'm obsessed. The machine is very beginner friendly, I have never made espresso until now. I love that I can also get hot water out of it from a separate spout for tea. My only criticism is i went to dial in new beans and now the grinder is over dosing every time, when it claims it should remember the settings. No big deal but I do not like the thought of wasting coffee grounds when the machine should be adjusting itself. Other than that I would buy this machine a million times over!

Easy to Make Great Espresso at Home
So far so great. I have begun to really enjoy espresso drinks but that can become an expensive daily habit. The Barista Express Impress makes it easy to make great espresso at home and we were able to get it on sale right after Thanksgiving!

Breville Brew
Took a while to get each brew right but mostly makes awesome coffee. Thanks Breville. Only problem when I buy a commercial cup of coffee it doesn’t come close to what I make at home.

The auto tapper is great
All works well, except that I have to tap the grinder to get the beans to drop. Went thru the drill of cleaning it out. Even ran rice thru the Hopper to dry it out in case my beans were too oily. Still have to tap the Hopper.

Great machine!
I did a bunch of online research (I'm a nerd and compiled/summarized the reviews of 20 different sites on espresso machines) before buying. The results were VERY clear - Breville makes great espresso machines, as a few different Breville models showed up as the top choice across nearly all reviewers! My decision came down to which model of Breville to buy, and after talking with my neighbor, who owns a similar Breville machine, and my daughter, who worked as a barista, I decided on the Express Impress. So far, the machine has met my expectations in terms of great espresso pulls and ease of use. I also love how it looks on the counter and how easy it is to maintain and keep clean.
That said, there are a few features that I wish it had: 1. I wish it had a setting to automatically turn on at a pre-set time. It makes better coffee and steam when the head has been warmed about 10-20 minutes, so it would be great to have it all warm and ready by the time I came downstairs for my morning cup! 2. I wish it had an automated warning/indicator that the water is low (or empty). Since the water reservoir is behind the machine, and the machine sits under the cupboards, it's difficult to tell when the water is running low. Consequently, there have been a few times when the espresso or steam wasn't right, and it took a while to realize it was due to the lack of water in the tank.
I'm still working on my latte art, but overall, I'm very happy with the purchase!

Feature rich - with a learning curve
I received the Barista Express Impress as a Christmas gift that had been on my wish list for a while. Features I love include the grinder shoot because it eliminates the mess, the hot water tap, which is great for making Americanos, and the overall setup, which is compact and puts everything right where you need it. I like the way the lower tray is removed and is easy to clean, including the notification float that pops up when the tray is full so there is no unexpected overflow. The videos to help dial in the settings are great, but there is definitely a learning curve and some experimentation needed from bean to bean. This is not a fully automated, push the button and get a perfect brew everytime machine, and I wasn't looking for that. It does help cut down the learning curve with some of the automation, but you will find that you need to go to manual settings to dial into a perfect grind and brew, which requires building knowledge and skill. Breville helps with education by providing great, easy-to-follow videos. So, if you want to move on from simple push-button machines to something more sophisticated like I did, this is a great choice!

Barista Express Impress
I bought this after using a less expensive model while staying at an AirBnB. Generally I am happy with this. The autogrinder works maybe 50% of the time. The steam wand is completely finicky - some days it makes steam right away, others it takes a long time to warm up and you can not put it in pause mode to get the milk container under it.

Great machine and customer service.
I went from a super automatic to this machine. Still trying to fine tune my espresso. I seem to always need to adjust the grind, because the dose fluctuates from 16 grams to 18 grams. I like the convenience of the built in grinder.

Good, but room for improvement
The Barista Express Impress gets many things right: 9 bar pressure, PID, self-tamping and dose measurement. It leaves no messy grounds on the counter. I would like to see it gain more grind settings, and the self-tamping could yield a tighter tamping - I tamp the end result myself manually with my own 53mm tamper after tamping with the Breville, and that gives me better consistency with my results. Altogether this is the best bang-for-the-buck machine Breville makes in my opinion.

Inconsistent
I bought this about a month ago and I've played with the settings according to the directions. Sometimes it works great, but most days I have to calibrate the shot 2-4 times before the espresso pulls correctly. It's such a waste of coffee. I can't tell if it's because of the tamp pressure or the grind. The beans are the same, so those are the only two factors that could be causing the inconsistencies. One day a 10 on the grinder is perfect and the next day it needs to be an 8. I'm going to purchase a manual tamp to see if that helps. I love the idea of this machine, but the calibration is very frustrating.

Lacking pressure and worthless tamper. Get the regular Express
Impress is not impressive! This model has some kind of pressure release valve that makes it literally impossible to pull a high pressure shot. Which means if you like to overfill the basket slightly no espresso will hit your cup
because the release value kills the pressure. This design is very unforgiving and annoying. There is no way to disable this nanny state nonsense. The pressure dial will never exceed the 50% mark no matter what even if it just drips or nothing comes out due to slightly overfilling or tamping properly. This takes even more time to dial in. The tamper is the other issue. It does not have enough force and it leaves a messy puck on top. I thought I was getting an upgrade over the regular Express model but it's really a downgrade. My brother has the regular Express and it has good pressure. The impress is a failure all the way around

Nice machine but too expensive for what it does and needs improvements
The machine is well built and the coffee it makes is excellent. Nice features and just enough automation that you can still tweak to make your own style. But there are some negatives as well.
1) It would be nice if it had a water level alert before you started making coffee, but just something to get used to.
2) It's quite noisy when making expresso with a very loud knocking sound.
3) The knob for the steam is also difficult to turn at times. It is very very stiff and I have to exert a lot of strength to turn the knob off. It should have a lever instead of a knob.
4) And for the cost of this machine, it really should have a second boiler for the steamer.
