GREAT VACUUM!
I bought this vacuum for my wife for Christmas and at first I wasn't that impressed until i started using it. We are picking up dirt and dog hair that the other vacuums she was using wasn't capturing, as we found out. I especially like the laser light when vacuuming hard surfaces as I can tell where the floor is clean and needs cleaned easily. The particle indicator bars are also handy as they indicate the type of dust and relative quantities being picked up. I also found, that using the auto setting is best for the majority of use which also conserves battery power to a large degree.

Great Machine! No Hair Tangled
This was my Xmas present to myself in 2024 and so far I love it! I have a 3 bedroom 2 bath house and can do the entire upstairs (minus stairs to basement) and the basement floor in one charge. I have pets and needed the extra large bin for bird seed, and dog, cat fur. It gets in corners my bigger vacuum can’t. I also love that I can pull a brush to do the couch or in tight bathroom areas like behind the toilet. The floor attachment is great for the basement as that is where my dog likes to lay. The light on the floor attachment does help me see the fine particles on the floor and areas where I’ve missed. NICE FEATURE! Love my Dyson Gen5 Detect!!

Amazing results!
I received this as a gift. It is the best vacuum I have ever owned! The amount of dust and dirt that comes up from my floors and carpet is unbelievable! I always thought my floors were clean until using the Dyson brand. The light on the floor attachment is a big plus!

Great especially for families with multiple pets
Our previous Dyson 11 quit running after a >10 years! So happy we bought this new Gen5Detect we absolutely LOVE it. It runs twice as long and the fluffy roller on our hard wood floors is a game changer. We have 4 people in our family 3 with long hair and 4 pets so there is sooo much hair on our wood floors and carpets. I highly recommend this dyson its phenomenal!

The other attachments are excellent/as expected but the hard-floor attachment with dirt-revealing light it truly amazing. Initial battery life is impressive. Dirt sensor is helpful.

Gen5 plus one above a V17Detect
Owned a V17 for 2 years - excellent experience, and figured out which attachments are useful and which are never used. Needed a new one for a new place and picked the Gen5. The extra 15% cost translates to a moderately stronger vacuum suction, a slightly brighter and broader green LED path, comes with the newer combo crevice-tool, long handle, and a larger HEPA filter on the back (different from the V17). Same battery though - the old stands and new stands will both work on both models. The HEPA does mean it tends to collect micro dust more effectively, but I find I'm moving the head slower across the floor than the V17 in order to collect every single particle I can detect. Worth it? Yes, the added cost translates into better efficiency in cleaning, though a V17 is already a really good vacuum, esp at the refurb prices.

A Must for Pet Owners :)
I bought this to replace an 8 y/o Dyson and I could not be more pleased. This has more suction/power than my corded canister vacuum. I have 2 long haired cats, which requires almost daily vacuuming and I could not believe how much hair was being left behind by the older vacuum. The detangling feature on the floor heads do not allow any hair to become wrapped around the bar at all, and the fiber optic light allows you to see hair and dust on tile and hardwood floors that you wouls not otherwise no was there! It is almost addictive; when you see what is on the floor, you have to vacuum it!
The only negative is I wish it came with a second battery. For the price, they could have added the extra battery. If it was advertised stronger than what it is for pet owners, you would definitely sell more!

I have 2 old Dyson's, one upright I bought with a Christmas bonus maybe 25 years ago and one of the first rechargeable. Both still work. But this is magical! Too many features to mention, but one drawback. I can SEE every single tiny bit of dust. It sets into motion a vacuuming frenzy. But I'm always happy it does.

I had a Dyson V12 slim, and decided I wanted more suction. I definitely have that, but this new one weighs almost 4 lbs more. So, love the vacuum, but not the weight.

Worth the price
We have two adorable but extremely messy boys. Getting our regular vacuum out was cumbersome and the broom and dustpan wouldn’t catch everything. We did a little research and decided to bite the bullet and go with this Dyson. First use and we fell in love! The green light showed us an embarrassing sight, yet at the same time made cleanup kind of fun. It was a game to see how much we could find each time. Love the three suction options- it also detects if there’s a lot of debris and will auto boost to pick it up. No complaints here. Definitely no regrets.

Love the suction power
I bought this to update my old corded Dyson DC14, and cordless Dyson SV09, both of which have served me well for over 10 years. The extra suction on this new unit is amazing. The light on the hard floor attachment makes me slow down and get all the dirt that I didn't even know was there. I enjoy not pulling the corded unit around, especially up the stairs. It is a bit heavy, but doable. Wanted the extra power, so was hoping the heft would not be an issue. If I can get my home up to speed, I think I will be able to finish with one battery, but right now have to do it in two sessions to recharge. Could not believe how much heavy fine dust this took out of my entry rug the first time! Also I'm very pleased with the hepa filter. Knew my old Dyson smelled of dust when I used it, but didn't realize how completely that could be fixed! On the down side, when I received this I thought the extension to the unit was broken. It goes on extremely hard until I figured out how to do it (and still is not the best design). I had to take off the short brush and attach that to the extension first, then can 'force' it onto the vacuum. The buttons attaching the heads work great. It's just the attachment directly onto the vacuum. Now that I know how hard to push, I don't have an issue with this.

Strong Battery
Using it for about a month. Replaced my old Dyson Animal that was heavy. This is easy to run. Only thing I can’t figure out is how to vacuum these newer washable rugs. The suction is too strong. Battery life excellent.

I brough this to replace a V10. The Gen 5 has more suction/power, large air filter, many more attachments and upgraded features. An improvement over the V series. It is larger and heavier that the V series, but that is to be expected for larger in size, more power, HEPA filter, etc.
