Epson Et-4850 All in one Review
It's much more compact than my previous epson work force, which is nice. Setup was very easy. However, it does take longer to print double sided documents.
I like the fact that I don't need to buy cartridges anymore. Ink bottles are easy to use. On the whole, a very nice printer. Colors are great with very clear printing. Great home office printer.

Best of Both Printing Worlds
This is an exceptional product. It prints sharp colors on all pictures, posters and advertisements. If you print mostly text this will print text quickly and beautifully. This printer is the best of both printing worlds, brilliant colors and exceptional text. Furthermore you don't have to mess with cartridges you just replace bottles of ink which last a very long time. The money you save in ink is an added bonus I wasn't expecting.

Great Small Office - Home Printer
Printer is easy to set up and is perfect for my home / office use. To scan to email you have to use the app. Since it is wireless I was hoping that I could also print to email directly from the screen. Scans fast, prints very well and overall I am very pleased and would recommend this printer.

Great Multi-function Device
Nice replacement for the ET-4550 that we had for 6 years. The new way of filling the ink tanks is great - nearly no chance of spilling or over-filling the ink tanks. The smaller size is nice too. The prints are great, like they were from the ET-4550. Miss the ability to set the scan area using the Preview function.

Improvement from past models
I had the opportunity to review the Epson ET-3750 for Epson a few years ago and was highly impressed with the all-in-one they introduced to the market. In fact, it is still going strong in my household.
Now comes the Epson ET-4850 which brings all the great aspects of the ET-3750 and builds on it.
The display is still the same size, 2.4 color screen, but now they have added it as a touchscreen which is convenient. One knock, it is small for a touchscreen. I utilize a stylus which helps out tremendously.
The ADF has been upgraded to hold a larger capacity and Epson has added a phone line port to handle faxing capabilities. The bottles are specifically made so you cannot add the wrong ink to the wrong well.
Epson has upgraded their app also. The ET-3750 utilized Epson's iPrint. Now comes the new Epson Smart Panel application blows that away. It literally walks you through the set up and printing process. It was an absolute breeze to set up.
This is a review for the Epson Eco-Tank ET-4850 Wireless Color Supertank Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Saves you money on Ink
I set this printer up by using their phone app per the included instructions. It took me step by step in simple directions. From turning on my phones Bluetooth to getting the printer to connect to my network. FYI it does have to be on the 2.4 GHz network not 5 GHz as it was not able to see it. So once I put my phone on that network I was able to have the printer connect. This is my first eco printer and I though filling up the tanks would be a lot messier than it is. I filled up each ink color and best of all not one drop was spilled. The official Epson ink bottles will auto stop when the tanks are fill so there is no need to worry that you will get ink all over the place or overfill the printer. The next set setting up on the phone was basically just clicking ok and it started the charging process with the ink. This step does take about 10 minutes to complete. From there I then checked the alignment of the print heads. Again it is all step by step so it is easy. Once I had that step up I was able to print. I was prompted for a firmware update which I did and that took a few minutes and the printer restarted. I then installed the Epson printer software on my laptop since I initially set it up by my phone. The whole install process was very easy.
Now for the operation. The LCD screen is also a touch panel. You are able to go through to do copies, faxing, printer, maintenance, firmware updates, etc. The screen is very responsive and moves quickly. You can also tilt up the screen part to see everything easier. The printer does have trays on top that can open or be closed to give it a cleaner sleek compact look. I am amazed at the size of this printer for all that it does. I has a fax link, and a port if you wanted to add a phone. The printer does not include the cable to hardware it to the computer but does have the port. The print quality is excellent. I had no issues printing photos which again the accuracy and quality is great. I have been printing up a storm and have had not one paper jam or multiple sheets try to go through. I was using Epson 24lbs paper though. I am not a fan of the lighter 20lbs paper. So your millage may vary if you are using something lighter than 24lbs. All in all this is a great solid build printer. I have to say so far this is one of the best printers I have used in a while. This is a review for the Epson EcoTank ET-4850 Wireless Color Supertank Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Good so far, but had a few issues
I had some trouble with the setup via wifi. I’m not yet sure if it will work over wifi. It seemed to get hung at one point so I have to cancel and use an Ethernet cable.
Also, I was hoping that this printer would be more environmentally friendly because I could recycle the ink bottles. Alas, the recycling in my area will only accept #1 and #2 plastic, and I think these bottles are #5. I’m not sure that any of it ever gets recycled anyway.

EcoPrint
Maryland resident, and a 2 month owner of the Epson 4850. Printer is easy to grow fond just from ease of refilling ink. Its compact size was a welcomed benefit and give professional quality. This product is definitely an investment worth recommending.

$$$ No Scan to USB or Media Card.
I just purchased this I am not trilled with this. I hope the ink lasts. The few test copies were good quality. I didn't test photos yet. As I have noted in the title this expensive printer you can't scan to a USB or Medial Card so it makes it more complicated to scan if you have it connected to a network and not using your phone. The product feels delicate. It doesn't have a manual/bypass feeder must load paper in draw. I hope this would last five years so I can save enough on ink to pay for this expensive unit.

Printer that has tons of ink
I was super skeptical and pessimistic when I received this MFD to test and review. I felt like the term EcoTank and Catridge-Free were just marketing buzzwords. Wow, I should say I'm proven wrong on all ends with this device. This printer comes with a lot of ink. Over the past 4 weeks, with the schools in session now, I printed over 500 pages with colorful images and scientific diagrams. All of them have come near perfect with the right colors. Printing on both sides is as easy as it can be. The ink does seem to last long, 500 pages and I still see less than a quarter ink used on all colors. Finally, the ability to scan and fax makes this machine a beast. I can now do all things on one machine instead of swivel-chairing. If you are looking for the perfect office room printer or MFD, this certainly tops that list. The only drawback for me to rate this 4 stars instead of 5 are the rollers, the paper gets jammed once in a while, mine happened after 100-125 pages each time. Certainly worth the investment with these returns

A little small for my needs but works great.
If you have limited space this printer is for you it's compact has decent features for it's size, not having to but cartridges is a plus, the price is a little high IMHO, the cost of ink refills will make or break this printer.

It's OK if you only very rarely scan double sided documents.
The ink bottle technology is a major improvement over the cartridges and I can say that even though I haven't used the printer much. The duplex printing works fine and the scanner provides clear copies with both the automatic document feeder and just the flatbed scan. That is the good news.
I find it highly disappointing that a printer/scanner that has duplex printing and the Automatic Document Feeder DOES NOT do duplex scanning. My XP-830 did! When I looked to replace the XP-830 I went Eco-Tank and I don't remember seeing anywhere in the specs for the ET-4850 that it could not do this. Seems to me it should have mentioned it.
Compared to the XP-830 it's a bit lacking in a couple other ares too. The operations panel opening is manual. The touch screen is very small. And the output tray is manual as well.

Time will tell
Bought the 4850 model bc of the ink tank feature which works fine. Inmo the control screen is too small and difficult to read. There is no reason for it especially if people have vision problems or older people. Also, I am not really impressed with the print quality but I will see if that can be adjusted as I this is a new printer that replaced my HP.

Fills the bill for color text printing.
Printer and FAX work fine. Was difficult figuring how to set fax up because initially it disabled our phone line and couldn't make or receive phone calls. I do not understand how the black ink can play dual roles of test and photo. Printer doing good so far. Haven't had it long.

Prints and is cheap, but has some bugs
It's cheap and it prints. However, there is no paper guide for the top of the stack of printer paper so every other print page it manages to push the stack of paper away from the rollers and must be reloaded. It's a shame because otherwise this printer has been amazing.

pretty good but....
the connectivity and stand by energy saving feature are not great. If you leave the printer on all the time but use it maybe once a day..it will not wake up from stand bye and show the status of being connected. It is not my home network as the router is within 12 feet in the same room and I have a repeater nearby. My old printer didn't have this problem and was old...my driver/software are all up to date......I have to go over to the printer and push the home button and sometimes reconnect it to my network

The machine is garbage. The amount of utility applications to use it is ridiculous. Connectivity is awful wired and wireless. The only good thing about it is that it doesn't use cartridges.
