Superb!!
Extremely pleased with the comfortable cooling, relative quietude and easy-to-use Friedrich portable air conditioners. The room feels cool without being uncomfortably chilly (ours are set to between 81 and 83 degrees) and, while not very portable (limited max distance from window), it’s wonderful to be able to open windows when not in use and the modern technology in these units is truly impressive.

Good Air Condition. Does Its Job
AC was reasonably priced and cools off a large area. I have a bit of a wonky setup and it is cooling more than a single room and it is doing a fine job of cooling an area that is not directly in the air flow. There is an opportunity for all portable AC manufacturers to create a window piece to fit in basement windows. I'm not particularly handy and I have a very questionable window setup. It would be nice if they made something for that. Maybe a good opportunity for someone to create a product.

Self Evaporating to the rescue!
I had a portable unit before this one that required me dumping out buckets of water every 3-4 hours. This self-evaporating unit does not need any draining in cooling mode at all! It is a little less powerful than my old one, I knew I was sacrificing a little in BTU's but I do think it's also because it blows out the top of the unit, instead of the front..... If I have it on before the NYC heat waves hit, I've been ok :)

Friedrich portable ac
It cools the space really well. Quiet for a portable air conditioner. My complaint is that the tray fills up quickly and you need to drain every couple of days.

Friedrich 10,000 btu portable AC
The unit works well & cools a 350 ft room well. It’s all good . My only critics that is sort of load. The tv volume has to be up high when it’s on cause the AC & TV are beside each other.

Fresh air
Great for those who don't like air conditioning (like me). When it's nice outside you can easily get it out of the way and open the window. Works pretty well at cooling

Works very well but not versatile for all window s
This unit works very well. Unfortunately the window vent size isn't as versatile as other brands I've purchased. With the parts provided it's either far too short or far too long. I made it work with materials I had at home.

Has hidden quirks not listed online or in manuals
The unit definitely does a great job cooling. Now...its louder than my older unit that it replaced and..this is the kicker...no where does it tell you that it has a economy or power saver feature that cant be turned off. The manual says nothing about the fan turning off just after the compressor turns off. So imagine trying to sleep at night and you want a constant flow of air circulation in your bedroom. Thats not happening. And when it turns back on....expect it to wake you up every time the compressor comes on along with the fan. I was hoping that that compressor could just come on and off as needed to keep the room cool but the fan could keep going as I have it set for fan speed. Nope...give it a couple minutes and the fan shuts off yet the display still shows that the fan is set for low. My old unit had no problems at all. Quieter and the fan never turned off. So not sure why Friedrich even has an auto position if the fan is going to turn off anyway. I have tried to reach their customer support online...nothing yet. I am hoping maybe there is a software update I can push from the phone to the unit to make it behave as it should.

Good for main Floors not so much the Second.
Good A/C for a medium size room on the first floor. I have this setup on the second floor, where the temperature reachs up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If it's 80 degrees outside it gonna be in the high 90s upstairs. With the A/C on full blast at that temperature it's really fighting to keep cool. Inside temperature gets to high 70s to low 80s. If it's in the 70s outside or at night then the A/C works really well. I even returned the 8000 btu model for this one. If you live upstairs and the temps reach 90°f + you'll need the highest btu model they carry.

OK AC, BUT No wifi?
While the AC works well, the installation and operation instructions are difficult to understand and follow. Additionally, the wifi doesn't work. It is not clear if this is a defective unit or whether it was mislaballed by PC Richards.

Looks nice but just can't keep up
I was warned against buying a portable A/C. It is currently 87 degrees out in NJ and my apartment is 86 degrees. This just can't do it and it looks like I will have too buy another AC or swelter for the summer as PC Richards doesn't take back portable unit.

You're better off buying a fan
I purchased this AC along with an identical looking 8500 BTU unit. They're both garbage. They barely produce any cool air and the fans are weak. If you move more than two feet from either unit you won't feel anything. This thing can't even cool a 150sf room. I think it actually generates more heat than anything. It's a 2 star portable heater and a 0 star air conditioner.

Very poor in cooling. We have an average size bedroom and it runs full time to keep it at 66. If I had the box I'd return it and go back to a window unit.

So unhappy with this purchase. Doesn't cool the room adequately and occasionally, there is a horrible smell from the a/c. Would not buy again. :(
