Easy install, and looks good
We have Ikea cabinets, and installed the microwave in a high cabinet, above a GE oven. Didn't have to worry about the cutout, since the cabinet has adjustable shelves, and the sizing of it was perfect. We installed it together with my boyfriend, was very easy, straightforward, and took us probably 20 minutes. The last step, when you screw the trim to the brackets, I recommend using a magnetic screwdriver, otherwise the screw can fall in the hole. We left 1 inch gap between the bottom of microwave trim, and the top of the oven for ventilation, as recommended, and just put a trim there from Ikea, to match the cabinet. I would have been happier without it, but not a big deal. I only give 4 star, because the trim kit was quite expensive.

Plastic
I had to replace my 8 year old GE microwave & trim kit.
This trim kit was ALL plastic to replace the ALL metal one I had.

Poor quality
Just had this trim kit installed with the associated ge microwave. It is warped in 3 places. Have notified the retailer. Have a feeling it will be difficult to find one that is not warped. It is really a flimsy unattractive trim. Its not like you have a lot of choices. Have to buy what fits. Do better GE

Difficult to install (poor design, instructions)
Purchased this kit to pair with GE Profile Microwave Model # 7227SLSS. I spent *several* hours online, determining whether this kit pairs with the microwave; I ultimatelyneeded to call GE to actually make the confirmation. The basic install was straight forward until I installed the trim face plate - two problems here: (1) The upper set of install screws were *extremely hard” to install, especially the screw next to the control panel; and (2) though the microwave appears centered in the face plate, the microwave door does not fully open without impigning on the face plate. The last step of the instructions say to “check for interferences” - but provides *no diagnostic or resolution steps”. I will likely need to call a repair person to figutre out this mystery.

Looks nice once Installed
This trim kit is OVERPRICED, but what else can you do?, Considering you get a plastic panel with some stainless steel stuck on it, along with the light gauge metal brackets that comes with it leads me to feel like we were taken advantage of because there is no other kit for this. The quality of the parts are good, but that does not make up for the high price and difficulty to install.. Installing the four screws that attach the front panel in place was quite difficult. Putting flat tip screws upside down, into a blind hole, is a very poorly executed design. At a minimum, these 4 screws should be pointed tipped, so they will find the blind hole. Installing the front trim panel alone, with 4 screws, took much longer than measuring and installing the rest of the mounting brackets. We are very dissatisfied with the non ease of installation. I hope I never have a need to pull the microwave out for any reason.

Cheap plastic but expensive. Rip off from compaby
Too expensive for a piece of plastic and metal pan. This is rip off from microwave companies. They control the design of microwave and keep changing it from base. Old trim kit cannot be used due to minor changes in design and you end up buying cheap quality but expensive trim kit. Govt must take action on companies for ripping off customers and creating monopoly

Poor quality trim kit doesnt fit
This trim kit doesnt fit correctly for the microwave. Youd think for spending so much on a simple trim kit it would be an easy quality product. I started reading review after review on other websites today as well regarding the trim kit rubbing on the door. My contractor and another worker spent over an hour trying to make it not rub. It simply is poor quality and doesnt fit

Very disappointed with this product
Brand new and bought it 3 years ago. 6 months after purchase, stopped working and GE has to replace it with a new one because they don’t have a part. After 2 years, the replaces unit also stopped working and I have to buy new microwave

VERY poorly designed features.
The sides of the trim kit are not cut to square. Rather, there’s an arch shaped hole in the sides of the trim kit. Have NO CLUE why they would build it this way. The end result is that you have to build a special piece into your cabinet, in order to make this work. Why, why, why, would they leave a “hole” looking into the side of the trim kit? Simply not smart.

Trim Frame is difficult to attach
The flanges on the trim frame do not line up easily with the bottom and upper brackets. The base pan, bottom brackets and upper bracket were all installed precisely in accordance with the installation instructions (which themselves leave a lot to be desired). The previous trim kit (also GE Profile) was a lot easier to install, but not compatible with the new model microwave. I'm going to have to remove the microwave and disassemble the kit to try to find a work around.
