We love that it sounds an alarm if the door(s) is left open too long and the fact that the freezer is a pull-out drawer on the bottom. This makes so much more sense. We haven't had an icemaker in years so this will be a timesaver and a blessing since we like our drinks ice-cold. Too often someone would use the ice and the next person would have to wait until the trays were filled and frozen ---- no more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoying the new refrigerator We are very pleased with the new GE Energy Star 27.0 Cu. Ft. Fingerprint Resistant French-Door Refrigerator Model #: GNE27JYMXFFS so far. The features we especially appreciate are the ease of removing and reinstalling both the shelves on the door and the interior shelves. In addition, the design of the interior shelves is really nice - they are super easy to install and remove and to reinstall, but also they are able to be lined up easily at the same height on the right as the left, which makes the storage space seem even more ample. It is easy to install both sides flush to each other because they have hook in spaces for each side. Or you can put the shelves at different heights, but I really like that they can be set up to be flush on both sides. The Fingerprint Resistant finish is very easy to keep looking great as well. The interior water dispenser has much better volume of water coming out than the previous fridge we had with external dispenser, and I made that choice because I hear that there are fewer issues without the external dispenser or ice maker on the refrigerator side. The model we chose this time has the ice dispenser in the freezer only. It is putting making a lot of ice with no problem.

The directions were really easy to understand for a home improvement novice. The temperature on there is great for a french style, bottom freezer. The first thing of note is that one should triple check the actual dimensions of the unit and the doorways through which it must pass to be installed. The only complaint is that the website is not accurate as to depth of the unit. It says "standard depth" one place on the website but 35.75 inches elsewhere. Our entrance to the kitchen was only 33 inches so the doors had to be removed from the unit reducing the depth to 31to get it in. Once installed, its capacity is great but one of the best features is lighting that permits easy review of the produce drawers.
