Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean and Accurate I'm using the Stage 240B speakers as the surround speakers in a 5.1 home theater setup with an MA510 AV receiver and other JBL Stage 2 series speakers. The sound quality is amazing, clean and accurate with plenty of volume. My placement options were limited. Stands aren't a good option, and one of the side walls is an exterior wall that I can't fish for wiring and has a window where I'd need to put the speaker, so the rear wall a few feet behind the sitting position is the only realistic option. The speakers are mounted 7 feet high at about a 25 degree angle behind the ideal listening position, and face forward instead of pointing at the listening position. The height and direction is not a problem, the 5.1 surround sound performance is great after completing speaker level balancing and room equalization. I've learned that the quality of 5.1 home theater audio depends heavily on the job done at the studio creating the five channel audio mix. Not all movies and broadcasts are created equal. Where they've done a good job, this JBL 5.1 surround system really delivers. It is incredibly like sitting in a movie theater immersed in audio, and I just love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great home theater system [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The entire stage 2 series is amazing. It works in med to xx-large spaces. I wouldn't buy it for an apartment under 1200sqft. Your neighbors wouldn't like you very much. The sound is powerful and smooth. I did need some assistance with the installation because I didn't want wires showing and im not comfortable going into walls. If you want the system to look as good as it sounds, you should have someone to help you. Be sure to read the instruction manuel or you will miss out on features like speaker placement which makes an overall difference in the sound. I definitely understand why its a stage series as the sound is stage worthy. I have been buying JBL for years and this system continnues to exemplify the success of the company by stepping up the quality of sound a regular person can have access to in their home. Just FYI, Snoop had his JBL speaker on the bus with the USA men's basketball team during the Olympics and it made me proud to be a JBL supporter myself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Complete your surround sound setup. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had these bookshelf speakers for almost a month now, and they truly make a difference when paired with the rest of the JBL Stage 2 series speaker set. Initially, I placed them on the left and right sides of my couch to test the surround sound, but I currently have them set up at the front left and right of my TV. Eventually, I plan to use these speakers to properly set up a home cinema in my basement once renovations are complete. Even though they're positioned up front near the TV, the sound quality is still excellent. The setup was easy; all you need to do is strip the cable and securely connect it to the red and black terminals on the back. Both speakers came with a small plate that can be screwed onto the back if you decide to mount them on a wall, or you can buy a separate stand if you prefer not to make holes in your walls. One of the best aspects of these speakers is the sound quality. Everything sounds clear, and the bass is nice and punchy. I've thoroughly enjoyed rewatching movies and playing music with these speakers. I also appreciate the magnetic cover that can be removed depending on the look you prefer. The brushed dark brown color is stylish and gives the speakers a premium feel, making it clear that JBL designed them with quality materials built to last. For anyone out there looking to complete their home cinema, I highly recommend the Stage 240B speakers. Give them a try!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound from a sleek and compact package! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had these speakers now about a month and I have been very satisfied with their performance. My intention is to use these speakers as part of a surround sound system, but do not have the other speakers yet. To start, I was happy to see how well this product was packaged. It was well-protected and the accessory were well contained, so I was able to find everything very easily. The speakers had no damage whatsoever when they came out of the box. After getting the speakers out of the box and seeing them in person, I think they look great! They look very classy and would look nice in a multitude of applications. I also think the magnetically attached grilles are really slick! It made their install incredibly easy and they look very nice. My only major issue with the speakers is that I had difficultly connecting the speaker wire to the speakers. The connectors are in a bit of a tight spot, so I didn't have adequate access to thread in the bare wire. I also tried spade connectors, but could not get them to fit in the tight location either. So I had to purchase banana connectors, in order to finally get them connected. But this isn't a major issue to me, because it was just a one-time inconvenience. I decided to mount the speakers to the wall, with the included wall mounts, and I think they turned out looking very nice and the process was very easy. After connecting the speakers and mounting them to the wall, these speakers have been in use on a daily basis. They are used for TV audio as well as music through a bluetooth connection on my receiver. Both dialogue and sound quality are great! I've had issues in the past with sound quality degrading pretty significantly through a bluetooth connection, but I have not experienced that with these speakers. Overall, I'm very happy with these speakers and am looking to purchase the same style of speaker to complete my surround sound system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tiny, but Mighty! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently added the JBL 240B speakers to my home theater and they have exceeded my expectations in every way possible. They may be the smallest speakers of my set up, but I guarantee you they pack a punch! At first look the build quality is top-notch. These espresso speakers have a sleek and modern design that fit perfectly into my home decor. JBL worked their magic with these and made a superior product. The sound quality is mind-blowing, with clear and precise highs, rich mids, and deep, powerful bass. These speakers bring my movies and music to life, creating an immersive audio experience. Makes me feel like I'm right in the middle of the action every time. Overall, I couldn't be any happier. They are truly a fantastic investment for any audio enthusiast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4.5-Inch Bookshelf Loudspeaker with Quality Sound [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you're in the market for a compact speaker that doesn't compromise on sound or style, this 4.5-inch Bookshelf Loudspeaker in Espresso is an excellent choice. The rich, warm espresso finish immediately catches the eye, giving it a sophisticated look that complements any decor, from modern minimalist to classic wood tones. Sound Quality: Despite its small size, this speaker delivers impressive sound quality. The clarity across the midrange and highs is exceptional, allowing vocals and instruments to shine. Bass is solid, too—surprisingly deep for a speaker of this size—thanks to its well-designed enclosure. Whether you're listening to jazz, classical, or your favorite pop tunes, the audio experience is both immersive and detailed. Build Quality: The craftsmanship of this speaker is equally noteworthy. The cabinet feels sturdy and well-made, with no compromise at higher volumes. The espresso finish is smooth and flawless, giving the speaker a premium feel. The attention to detail is evident, from the seamless joints to the carefully placed logo. Additionally no details skipped on the rear wall mounting brackets and magnetic grills. Overall: This 4.5-inch Bookshelf Loudspeaker strikes an excellent balance between aesthetics and performance. It’s perfect for small to medium-sized rooms, delivering high-quality sound without dominating your space. If you're looking for a speaker that offers great audio and adds a touch of elegance to your room, this espresso-finished model is a fantastic option. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding sound and clarity! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got these bookshelf speakers paired them with my JBL receiver and powered subwoofer, creating a home theatre/stereo that has truly exceeded my expectations. The clarity and frequency response are exceptional, delivering a full-range sound that is crisp and clear, even at lower volumes. When I crank up the volume, the system becomes a force to be reckoned with—my neighbors a block away can probably hear every note! Seriously, these are super well-balanced speakers. When it comes to watching movies, these speakers really shine. The depth they add makes it feel like I'm in a movie theater, far surpassing the performance of any soundbar out there, and annihilating standard TV speakers. However, there are a couple of design elements that could use improvement. The magnetic grill, while sleek, tends to get knocked off easily, which can be a bit annoying. Additionally, I found the speaker jacks a bit tight, making it slightly difficult to connect the wires. A little more room for maneuvering would have been appreciated. I use a well-built, thick gauge speaker wire and it gets a little wonky back there unless you have clips to put in. I just used the push in method with my fat fingers and it worked fine. I am ordering banana plugs soon! I appreciate how the jacks are versatile and accept multiple connection methods. On the aesthetic side, these speakers are a great addition to any room. They are stylish, sleek, and unobtrusive, blending well with almost any decor. However, I was hoping for a darker shade in the espresso woodgrain finish; it's a bit lighter than I anticipated. Overall, despite the oh-so-minor design issues, I would highly recommend these speakers for their outstanding sound quality and good looks. Putting these with a high-quality receiver/amp and a powered sub, they deliver an audio experience that is hard to beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speakers that complete my home theater [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sound quality and design on this product is outstanding! It has really completed my home theater with great surround sound. I love turning up the volume on the TV and letting these speakers go to work. Of course, they work great on any volume but it really feels like you’re at the game from the comfort of your couch when you’re watching a live sporting event. I enjoy using them just to listen to music as well. I love how seamlessly these speakers blend in with my home theater as well. I like the sleek design on these and they are not too big that you wouldn’t be able to find a good place to put them. Overall, the sound quality, volume, and design make this product perfect! A great addition to any TV setup!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CLEAN POWERFUL SOUND [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love these bookshelf speakers. These things are versatile and easy to look at. You can have them as front L/R or Surround speakers. They can get loud without having to sacrifice quality and I love it. They can hold their own but if you couple these with a sub from the 200 series, forget about it. You’re gonna want to get all of them. Setting these up was straight to the point and fairly easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I don’t live in a theatre.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t live in a theatre, but my neighbors think I do. With the convince of portability, the simplicity of Bluetooth and the amazing sound quality coming from today’s popular smaller speakers, I haven’t had want for much else. But, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a full system and I decided it was time. Time to go big. 7.1 big. I had no idea what I was in for. Sounds now come from not only front, behind and deep within, but also from above. I’ve had to hit pause to investigate if the noises were coming from inside or outside of my house. The JBL MA710 receiver paired with the 200 series speakers will drive nails out of your joists. Crystal clearly. Set up is very straight forward. The packaging is impeccable as always. Once connected you can dial in channels and frequencies, along with Dolby and Atmos options. The charcoal magnetic grille covers complement the handsome wood grain finish of all the speakers and sub. While the MA710 has a beautiful glass front I was a bit let down by the old school mono-color analog looking display. Nit picky, I know, but IT deserves better. Luckily you can time the display to go blank in seconds. I also appreciate the auto off on timed idle option. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the JBL app to work on my iPhone, so I cannot speak to its interface with the system. Bottom line, if you want truer than life home theater sound or incredible stage presence, this is where it’s at.

No muffling or abnormal sounds. It’s a pretty good size. Fits into my tv stand easily. Wish there were buttons to adjust it on the back tho.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Generation Auditory Bliss [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The new generation JBL Stage 240B (Bookshelf) 4.5" speaker set is a part of an entirely new Stage series of speakers offered by JBL. There are several offerings included in the new lineup including subwoofers, wedge type speakers, floor standing speakers as well as a center channel speaker. These 2 way speakers feature a 1" aluminum dome tweeter as well as a 4.5" polycellulose cone woofer paired with JBL's patented HDI Waveguide for exceptional bookshelf sound. The speakers are a mere 10" tall, 8" wide, and 12" deep. Included in the box are owners manual, foot pads, speaker set and magnetic grilles. Speaker wire is sold separately. The set is available in two color configurations including Espresso (black/this test) and Latte which is a cream color. For this test and review I used Austere Audio 12 Gauge copper free high flex speaker cable. The speakers connected quickly and effortlessly thru standard quick connect speaker posts to our new JBL MA310 AV Receiver. The Stage 240B set fit perfectly on on home entertainment center and blended well with our furniture finishes. The set has a mahogany dark wood grain wood finish and is very attractive and sleek addition to our current setup. The 240B set was paired with the JBL Sound Bar 1000 system to complete a movie watchers/music lovers audiophile dream. Sound is phenomenal (as with all JBL products) and was tested on several action packed movies as well as a variety of music genres. The set delivers crisp dialogue and dynamic sound effects while providing a powerful and balanced range of ear candy. Movies and music were even more refined with the adding of these bookshelf masterpieces to our current setup. Very impressive performance and sound footprint from the smallest bookshelf speakers the Stage series has to offer. The 240B provides the signature deep and powerful bass that JBL is synonymous for and is a welcomed addition to the JBL (and our home theater) lineup. These speakers are a must have for any budget conscious audio freak looking to build a speaker system in stages or all at once. Incredible sound and the JBL reputation for excellence... who could ask for anything more?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crystal Clear [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL 240B (Book Shelf) speakers are truly a wonderful pair to add to a surround sound system. These speakers along with the JBL 200P subwoofer offer extreme clarity in mids and highs. These speakers replaced the JBL soundbar we had, and after setting these up, we are ecstatic we made the decision for a separate speaker system for our TV. We now hear more voice sounds and background sounds than we ever have before. Rewatching movies with these speakers points out sounds we missed before. The speaker boxes are have a dark brown color and what I really like are the magnetic front grilles. A really cool touch to these speaker boxes. These came with some high end oxygen free speaker wire. The power output is pretty good ranging from 25-75 watts and the decibal output is around 85db. Set up was a breeze to the JBL MA310. We are using these speakers as the system fronts, facing us. I truly can't say enough about how nice the sound is coming out of these. No more sound bars for us. We will stick too a component system that builds upon these JBL Stage 240B speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Met and exceeded expectations! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When you think of powerful sound you think JBL. These speakers met and exceeded expectations. The quality and crispness of the music that I was playing was like I was at the concert front row. They definitely give you that immerse feeling like you’re surrounded by the music. The setup was fairly easy, but I will say that the angle of the terminals in the back of these makes it a little difficult to feed the speaker wire, but not impossible. It will just take a little extra effort to feed the wire. But once you do, be prepare for some of the best sound quality you will ever hear out of a speaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size for the mantle with amazing sound! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These speakers are perfect on our mantle. They’re just the right size as to not be overwhelming for the room, but still have amazing sound quality, and output! It was a little bit daunting for me to do the set up, but my husband had it done and no time at all. The speaker wire is plenty long enough to set them as close or far apart as we desire. Overall, love these as an addition to our home theater system! I would certainly recommend these to anybody looking to up their audio game in the home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome speakers [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These bookshelf speakers are awesome. They sound like much larger speakers. Clear and crisp. The anti slip pads are a great idea and keep them from moving around on my shelf when I dust. I like them with the cover/fronts on but they are removable. And magnetic! I prefer on because they have the coolest orange stripe all around. They come with wall mounting brackets which I may use in the future. I love that they are a smaller size (7.5") and my living room isnt overwhelmed with huge speakers (like in my youth!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bookshelf punch. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not your average bookshelf speaker this pair shakes the walls, floor with no annoying distortion to ruin the sound. A very versatile set that can sit on desktop with added hardware for mounting on a base, wall mounted or freestanding. The looks compliments the MA310 AV receiver I own.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small Package, Big Sound! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These little bookshelf speakers pack quite the punch! They look very sleek and minimalist. The build quality is excellent, almost a luxury piece. The wire connectors are hefty and the magnetic covers are a nice touch too. The highs are crisp and clear - just what you want in a small speaker. They can get quite loud without distortion or dip in quality. On their own, I wish there was more in the mid and low ranges. The soundscape isn't as deep and broad as I would like as the primary speakers. However, when coupled with a subwoofer, they really shine and create a very nice immersive experience. You can tell that these were made to be part of a larger system and as such, work well within that design. For the price, these speakers really hit the mark and go above and beyond that when placed in a lager speaker system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bookshelf speakers w/ striking look, crisp sound [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are some sharp-looking speakers with a nice aesthetic. The magnetic dust covers are great, makes it very easy to take them off and put them back on. Sonically they sound crisp, super clear high-end, and very true sound replication. Plus, they have great projection; they're pretty powerful for bookshelf speakers; however, the woofers definitely do not handle low frequencies, which seems to potentially be built into the crossover to help keep the fidelity high. I found that using them in the high-fi stereo set-up was a bit lacking due to the missing low-mid, but it woks great with living in an apartment and for a more background music feel. Plus, they do make fantastic surround satellites.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful little speakers [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These little bookshelf speakers are fantastic. I’ve had them for a will and have only used them as part of a home theater setup. They perform so well. They are too in class for their price and deliver crisp clean audio. I am pleased to have these for the Olympics and beyond

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classy, Clean Sound [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice study speakers. The wood color on the sides are okay, I might prefer the whole thing being black, but it's nice as is. The magnetic snap-on grills (are they called grills?) are fun and easy to apply to the front of the speakers. At the back, the angle to screw in the wires into the holes in the positive and negative nodes is kind of awkward, it took some patience, but was not impossible. There are these circular foam for if you wall mount the speakers, I'm not wall mounting the speaker but put them in anyway, although impossible to put them in super evenly. The sound is clean. The first thing I noticed between these and my old speakers is the clarity, but also the lack of bass, no matter how I adjust the EQ - this, I don't know if it's the audio unit, or the speakers. Overall, these are decent speakers that are sturdy and classy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big, Clear Sound (Somewhat Lacking In Crisp Highs) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These bookshelf speakers produce a surprisingly big, clean, clear sound for a very small profile. Big sound easily fills the room and stays clear even as the volume is turned up. I use them as primary speakers (with 200-watt amp) placed in the bookshelves at the wings of my small entertainment console, but they would also work well as rear surround speakers in a more advanced home theater setup. Lows are hefty and solid, mids are present and balanced, but I find the highs are not as crisp as I would like. The hi-hats, chimes and other crisp details in music and cinema just don't come through proportionally with the other frequency ranges for my taste. The overall sound quality still provides an excellent, clean, immersive audio experience, especially for the size of the speakers, but I find myself wanting that additional clarity in the highs to round out the experience to perfection. For a home theater setup, this might matter little as other speakers in the configuration can provide those crisp high frequencies. But when used as primary speakers, and depending on your sonic preferences, this issue might somewhat disappoint. The speakers are attractive with or without the provided covers. Magnetic attachment design of the covers makes the installation beyond simple, plus the covers can be quickly removed and replaced when dusting. Outer cabinet is simple and attractive. Espresso finish matches my dark wood shelving perfectly. Overall, very attractive and high-quality speakers that really exceed expectations for their size and class.
