Sleek low profile
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The KitchenAid Smart Low Profile Microwave-hood combination w/ dual-fan ventilation is the perfect upgrade to my dated kitchen.
The microwave itself is attractive and modern. It has smart features that were a breeze to setup with the KitchenAid app. I receive a notification on my phone when my food is done heating, which is a lifesaver when you have little ones distracting you while trying to prepare a meal. The unit is quiet when running and food heats quickly and evenly. I'm happy with the size of the interior of the microwave. I can easily fit large glass mixing bowls.
As a hood this unit works great: I can see steam being sucked into the underside of my microwave. The lights on the underside illuminate my cooktop and being able to choose the color temperature is a nice touch.
The only nitpicks I have with the microwave are the controls. Sometimes they don't feel responsive when typing in a cook time or there is a notable delay when pressing "start". Also, there is an "open" button and a handle to pull the microwave door open. I often bump the fan/light buttons when using the handle as they are right above the cutout.

Awesome Microwave!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This microwave is leagues better than the 10 year old microwave it replaced. I was a little concerned about the low profile, but everything I’ve tried has fit so far and it’s great to have all that extra space above the stove. The microwave is well made, very quiet when running, and the chime is much more pleasant than the traditional beep. It heats food well and the special settings like “soften” and “melt” seem to do their jobs efficiently. The fan has several speed settings and does a good job at moving air when cooking on the stove.
Not sure when the “remote start” feature in the app would be useful, but it’s there if you need it. Would love it if they would add a feature to the app so you can see how much time is left on the timer from your phone.
Overall, very pleased with the looks and functionality of this microwave and would definitely recommend!

Nice upgrade
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn’t realize how much technology has evolved in the kitchen department in the last decade!
It was a bummer when our microwave bought 11 years ago finally quit working. Once this one was installed -I was happy we upgraded! It is so much quieter and more accurate than our old one!
The meat defrost takes 2/3 of the time as our old one did and it actually thaws the frozen mean versus cooking half of it and leaving the other half still froze! That in and of itself was such a great upgrade! The smart features are a nice addition also, love being able to control the functions from my phone or ipad. The microwave is also much easier to clean and I don’t notice finger prints accumulating as much as our old stainless steel did.
All in all I’m happy with this microwave and would recommend it to others!

This KitchenAid smart low profile microwave hood combo is very sleep and indeed low profile that it will blend into any modern kitchens well. The design is simple with a smooth and flat surface, including a touch pad, making cleaning and wiping easy and simple. The microwave functions as expected and well. There is dual fan ventilation with 600 CFM which is adequate for normal and casual cooking. There is still be smoke and grease escaping with heavy cooking and searing. I didn't utilize the smart function much (voice command) since pressing on the keys is simple and quick enough. I particularly like how this combo is space saving with a clean look.

A big plus for someone who travels
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new black stainless steel Kitchaid Smart Microwave was delivered yesterday, and unfortunately the old metal cabinets in my hundred year old Victorian home weren't compatible with installation. However I'm currently remodeling my kitchen, and new wooden cabinets have been ordered. I'm currently the enjoying the benefits of the microwave sitting on the counter until my cabinets arrive. First of all, let me say the microwave is very appealing with it's sharp, shiny and sleek design. The inside is smaller in height, but is long and wide enough to fit a 9"x 13 casserole dish. However is for the various options of cooking, reheating, defrosting and melting. The sound of the microwave is nicely quiet, and the fans have an option to set from low to high speed. The dual fan ventilation helps to clear smoke and grease in the air, when the microwave is over the oven. Another benefit of this microwave is the option to use the WiFi capabilities, and connect to the Kitchen Aid app on your smartphone or android. It's a convenient way to manage your cooking settings and monitor the progress of what your cooking. There is also an option in the app to use voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant. My experience with the microwave so far has been really good, with the exception finding additional informatiion about the settings option on the control panel. I couldn't figure out how to set the date and time, however after I turned off the remote on the control panel it rebooted the microwave. There's a packet of information, such as a quick guide for using the microwave and for installation. However I was very frustrated when I couldn't find any information about certain things about the microwave online, and calling Whirlpool did me no good. Overall I'm really impressed with my Kitchaid Smart Low profile Microwave, and I've already used the different setting modes. I've cooked, reheated and defrosted some food and the microwave works very well. There's also a self cleaning option, which is very convenient. You also can use a soft cloth with soap and water to clean. I really appreciate the Wifi capabilities, and downloading the app was very easy. The other day I wanted to how well the KitchenAid app worked, so I put in a casserole meal I pepared, went in to the other room and adjusted the cooking time from my phone. It's very convenient, but honestly I don't think I will be using it much, but the convenience of the option is there. I do recommend the KitchenAid Smart microwave for anyone who likes the efficiency and convenience of the smart capabilities of a microwave. A big plus for someone who travels alot and wants their meal ready when they get home. In my opinion this microwave is solely based on it's efficiency and smart capabilities
