Mine is 40 years old
i don't understand the low reviews. Mine did develope a cack in the back which makes it a bit more difficult to clean, but it works great. To makes sure it grinds properly the meat needs to be really really cold (I usually put it in the freezer for about 15 minuted before I grind it) and you need to use the wrench and make sure it is tight before you grind meat. Ihave had to purchase a new blade and got a bigger variety of grinding plates but I'm a happy camper.

Took me a While to use it, but now I use all the time
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the grinder at the same time that I got my stand mixer. It took me several months before I used it, but now I use it all the time. I mainly use it to process beef and pork and it is a monster! Quick, efficient and easy to clean!

Problems with Food Grinder maybe assembly problem by user
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this food grinder and use it for all types of meat on a weekly basis. Today I accidentally did not assemble it correctly before trying to use it and learned that is a disaster and created most of the problems reported in the negative reviews here. Someone put away the parts to my food grinder and didn't put the little square "knife" part with the other parts and I somehow forgot it existed. So I assembled the grinder parts and it hardly worked at all. I go a small crack in the housing, had to use the pusher to even get anything out a all and thought I had broken something. I cleaned it all out and tried again and started even getting metal shavings grinding from the shaft into the meat. So I stopped, took it apart again and found a manual and realized I had neglected to put the little square part they call the "knife" on to the shaft before the round grinding plate. Once I found it and put it on, viola, no problems at all and it was back to working as it has always worked....which is GREAT......so I wonder if that is a part that people don't realize is essential to the operation of the grinder....it can't be lost or just ignored.
In any case, there is the issue that these parts can be easily lost but I clean and dry mind and then store them all assembled in a large plastic zip lock bag near my mixer so it is ready to use next time.

food grinder
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had mine for many years and it is starting to get hairline cracks now, but I used it for probably 25 years without a problem. I grind cranberries and apples in it all the time and it's great.

Very good value for the price.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this attachment all the time. I make my own dog food, and often the cheapest meat is pork butt. For two years, I ground it using this attachment. Was it as fast as a commercial grinder? Certainly not. However the attachment only costs me a bit over $50, and a commercial grinder would be many hundreds of dollars. Furthermore, it would take up a lot of storage space. AND, the cleanup is so easy compared to that of dedicated machines.
Two years, using it for a pound of meat per day (usually in 20 pound batches) and the only thing I had to do was sharpen the little cutting blade windmill on a stone (once) when it seemed to be jamming a bit.
This is a plastic attachment, so, you know, it's not meant for heavy duty. However, I've been very happy with it. I've saved about a dollar a pound by grinding my own meat, and that adds up to almost $800 just in the last few years. Furthermore, the homemade Italian sausage I made (Emeril's recipe) from the same cheap pork butt was outstanding!

great for arthritic cooks
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like to make foods like sausage cheese balls but mixing and grating ingredients is painful with arthritic hands. The grinder attachment ground and grated the moist ingredients easily. Using the dough hook made mixing and kneading the dry ingredients with the moist. This was the first time I made sausage cheese ball without having to pause because of the arthritis in my hands. I've also found that the whisk makes Quinoa Bisquik very easy.

Fantastic! (Tip, Meat must be chilled!)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fantastic attachment, highly recommend it. Make own burgers, chili, meatballs etc.
Use chuck, sirloin and even ribeye (though not necessary).
Tip is to have meat cut into 1" cubes and must be chilled!
I put about 30 min in freezer (not frozen though) and leave cubes on stainless bowl on top of ice.
Awesome (and healthier too!)

Food Grinder
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one that we bought to replace our one that was determined to be a loss due to a fire in our home. I have used other meat grinders and feel this does not even come close to how they worked. I have never had any problems with this. I would highly recommend this to a friend!!!

hesitant but happy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was hesitant to buy this based on the reviews I read but I'm glad it was the only one available. I attached my grinder to the kitchen aide and lo and behold got exactly what I'd read...meat squishing out all over the place. It just didn't make sense to me so I took the time to look at the pamphlet and realized the attachment has both grinding attachments attached and screwed on when you take it out of the box. Hmmmm...so I unscrewed the connection and took out one of the two grinding plates; reattached it and it works like a charm. Already ground fresh burger and marinated pork to make egg rolls. Recommend you put a note in there to check and remove one of the grinder plates!

Great for what I do.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this food grinder for several years and use it constantly. I use it to grind the cooked vegetables when I make my own salsa (tomatoes, onions, garlic, hot peppers). I bake the vegetables and then run them through the coarse grinder to get a chunky but consistent consistency. I could easily put them in a food processor or blender, but prefer the chunkiness from the bigger grinder die than the smoothness from a blender or processor. This thing works perfectly and consistently and always gives great results. The only issue I have had with it are that pressing the juicy vegetables down the chute with the wooden press will occasionally put too much pressure and cause the ground veges to squirt out the die & beyond the bowl or to squirt back up the food chute - but I attribute this to my over-pressing the food to speed up the process. Simply turning up the speed does a better job of grinding quicker.
Let me add this disclaimer: I do not grind meat with it. I don't grind venison, boar, or even beef for burgers or chili. But, for my use in grinding vegetables, this does a perfect job every time.

Easy to use Easy to Clean
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the meat grinder for two
years and LOVE it. Take your time. I buy a sirloin roast, chuck roast, and either Tri tip or beef short ribs and grind them and use this mix for burgers .etc.. Cut the meat into chunks then feed it through the grinder. I typically stop after each roast, take off the blade and clean off the disc because you get a fat bulid up..this takes seconds to do. Once I am done i often switch to the smaller hole disc and grind it for a second time. When finished, take off the front, remove any discs and wash in hot soapy water. Tap the metal part sticking out on the grinder and it pops right out for cleaning. You can clean this by hand with a bottle brush or put it in a top rack in your dishwasher. It literally takes minutes to clean it.When it's dry, assemble it, and store it for the next time. Your meat smells and tastes much fresher than prepackaged meats. Love this attachment and I use mine at least two to four times a month.
