Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor, great features I bought this monitor in January of 2024. I purchased it because it had better resolution than competing monitors as well as being an IPS monitor and I prefer color accuracy and brightness. I have a window that can sometimes shine from behind me (despite the blinds) and it disturbs me a bit. The slight tilt down as well as the higher brightness than other monitors were also key decisions for me. I haven't truly utilized the 'picture in picture' mode of the monitor. Knowing those features were present was nice. Bonus points that I can charge my late-2019 (Intel) MBP from the monitor itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best wide monitor out there for development Love this monitor. Bought it about a month ago for my desk setup. I use a MBP 16 M1, and a single Thunderbolt cable (included) gets you going. No hassle at all. Easy to set up. Super crisp text at 1.5'. Height is adjustable, so I can use my MBP screen at the same time for maximum versatility and space. You can download a utility app that helps you dock windows in 1/2, 1/3, 1/6th of the screen. Downside: the only useful brightness level is 100%, especially if you have a modern laptop in front of it. It doesn't really bother me, but I don't have this right next to a bright window either. Note: a Thunderbolt to DisplayPort 1.4 gets you the same max framer ate, but with a variable rate to cut down graphics card use. If you aren't gaming, this is pretty much all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Monitor I love this monitor, it is beautiful. I am coming from the LG 5k Ultrafine and this monitor is even better! No complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So many of the Excel columns on display I do lots of work on spreadsheets and being able to see so many columns of data is amazing. I am also an astronomy photographer and often like to see several small photos at once. The HDR feature really helps the photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome widescreen for my Macbook Bought this about 2 weeks ago. Super stable for me. I previously tried both HP and Dell widescreens (using the same panel). The USB hub on both of those was super flaky even after firmware updates. My mouse/keyboard and the inbuilt ethernet would auto disconnect randomly. Although, this monitor doesn't have in-built ethernet, but I connected a USB C ethernet dongle on thunderbolt out and it is super solid. Highly recommend this monitor over the Dell/HP variants if you have a Mac. Two features I'd love to have: 1. Inbuilt ethernet 2. USB B input and software-less KVM to switch USB to non-thunderbolt inputs

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and Big! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice, Bright and big, I like the format of the monitor as wide screen movies play very nicely. The monitor has some great connectivity TB4, DisplayPort and HDMI. The monitor appears to be built well, I wish the stand were more compact as it does take a lot of desk space - the design is nice looking but would be nice if the stand didn't hog so much of the Desk. All in all it's a great purchase, the resolution is sharp, plays well with the mac, and the curvature is not overwhelming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A beast of a monitor that delivers [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using dual monitors for a long time now. Started with smaller monitors and ultimately moved up to dual 27" monitors that I now have at both my office and at home. I've been rocking dual LG 27UD69P monitors for many years now and love them When I got the chance to get LG's 40" 40WP95C curved IPS non-touchscreen monitor I jumped at the opportunity. In the box is the monitor, a desktop stand which is perfect for me, cables (HDMI, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, USB-C), and the power cord that doesn't have the typical brick. Setting up the ergo stand was simple, and so was locking in the monitor to the VESA mount. There are a few key specs to consider. For gamers, the 72hz refresh rate with FreeSync may not be optimal (I don't game on the PC). It has a 5 ms response time. The maximum brightness is 300nits which may not be the best in some situations (no issue in my setting). Contrast ratio is 1000:1. The main use of a monitor for me for work running multiple programs with the need for many windows open. I also watch a lot of YouTube videos as well browse the internet and use social media. I also do video editing as a hobby. For my testing I used HDMI, but I know Thunderbolt has its advantages and over time will be experimenting with that. I know there is software to split windows but I'm old school and prefer to do so manually. The screen is certainly immersive. Even though there isn't as much real estate as dual 27's, the curved form looks better than two angled flat monitors. The first test run I did was work related. I had multiple programs running - Chrome, QuickBooks, Excel, Word. The biggest advantage was not having to drag a window from one monitor to another which has a delay. Manipulating multiple windows on this beast was effortless. I did some minor tweaking to settings, and the fonts were crisp and clear. I moved onto YouTube to watch some videos. Such a pleasure with a larger monitor. I noticed no video lag, and it looked great. I found the colors to be natural and not over saturated. I never use monitor speakers but I did give them a listen. They are decent for a monitor, but I'm spoiled with my personal PC sound setup. Bottom line is I would definitely recommend this monitor. I am considering getting a second one to run duals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large crisp screen [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This 40 inch curved ultrawide monitor from LG has been a gamechanger. I've been using this monitor for two weeks and it has been the best monitor I have ever used. The 5k resolution makes everything crisp and the IPS technology means every viewing angle is great. The internal speakers and multitude of ports make this monitor essentially a hub. You can connect your mouse, keyboard, webcam, and all accessories to the monitor and then connect a single USB-C cable to your laptop and everything just works. The large screen makes work with multiple windows so easy. I often work with 3 excel sheets on 3 different monitors, but after switching to the 40 inch ultrawide, I can work on a single monitor and have all my screens open. I highly recommend this monitor to anyone I know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A GAME changer! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, this beauty surprises you with an extremely large package. I love how easy it was to unpack by myself, you do not need a second person to help, and setup. There are two pieces that make up the stand, the legs and the stand. At the bottom of the legs are a tool-less screw which attaches to the stand and then you just slide the stand to the back of the monitor. Boom, you’re setup in less than 1 minute. Seriously, it’s impressive. This monitor has been extremely good to me for productivity, I love having an all-in-one solution for me to play games or have both of my computers connected. Right now I am working on mounting my other “gaming” monitor which is the LG C1 48”, and I’ll be using this to handle all of my productivity while streaming, editing or attempting to create content. It is bright, beautiful, the IPS panel has some consistent viewing angles and colors are accurate for those that do photography or color grade. Overall, this has been such a unique transition into what I feel is a game changer for my uses. Love this monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Monitor - How Did I Ever Live Without It? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so impressed with this LG 40WP95C-W monitor that I honestly don’t know how I will ever be able to use a smaller monitor ever again. My previous PC monitors have been either 32” or 27”. I resisted the urge to go with anything larger for fear that it would be too big to use easily but boy was I wrong. This 40” curved monitor is, without a doubt, the single best thing I have ever purchased for my PC. First it looks gorgeous with the curved screen and the white colored backside. The stand is completely stable with no wobbling (I hate wobbly monitors!). There are a plethora of inputs, basically every type you would ever need. Also the speakers are really good for a PC monitor, they impressed me. Now the screen is a sight to behold. 5K resolution (provided you have a good video card that can handle that resolution) and the colors are perfect. I did not feel the need to alter the color settings at all. It’s perfect out of the box. I use my PC daily as I work from home and this huge screen allows me to easily view at least 6 open windows so I can be more productive. I love this ability and, for me, is the main reason I can never go back to a smaller monitor. I feel spoiled! I don’t game much and haven’t used this monitor for gaming so I cannot comment on it’s gaming performance. It has AMD FreeSync so it should be great to use with either a PC or gaming console. I’m already considering buying another one of these amazing monitors. Bravo LG on a job well done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Display!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This display is in my opinion the best option on the market right now for a lot of different types of users, but especially for mac owners. The display is large, bright, clear and works flawlessly. I really like the design with the white back, a detachable power cord! (NOT a horrible power brick) beautiful and functional stand but it's also out of the box VESA mountable! This display gets an A+ in a lot of areas for me. I really like the controls which are very easy to engage with and understand using the joystick that is in the middle of the display at the bottom. I also appreciate the designers giving the option to enable or disable the power LED on the display but I especially like that it's positioned on the bottom of the display and shines downward - it's not on the front of the display to shine in your face. This is an attention to detail that shows just how much thought was put into the design of this display. Ports galore! Thunderbolt 4 for the display, and if your device supports it there's a 2nd Thunderbolt port that will allow you to daisy chain a second display, DisplayPort, 2 HDMI ports. There are 2 USB Ports that are on the right side of the display (another attention to detail that I appreciate). The refresh rate is 72Hz (a bit better than the 60Hz on most monitors), Color is spot on. I work from home and this is my everything display! Plenty of room for spreadsheets, 300nits of brightness for photo editing and a wide screen movie fits the screen beautifully with the 21:9 aspect ratio. I think the price point is really a good bargain for everything that you get in this display.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 40WP95-C [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this monitor 2 weeks ago, so far so good, love the screen real estate. Didn’t love the price too much, but I thought I would treat myself by getting the largest 4K IPS panel made for productivity and content creation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Maximum real estate! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This monitor has changed my way of productivity in a good way. Two computers at once is awesome. Picture quality is good, sound is ok but it there if you don’t have external speakers. Bery happy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great resolution and color [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great minimalist setup monitor for a programmer. I do agree with another review, the speaker on this is not a necessary feature for a monitor. The speakers don’t sound good so I’m surprised that it’s listed as a main feature. The base stand is awesome. I use a arm mount but even I can appreciate the design of the stand. I can’t see the difference over 65hz and this monitor satisfies that requirement. VESA mounting will be an issue for some because the screw hole area is at a level lower than the rest of the back. The brightness could be an issue but the max fine for me in a dark room. My ask for next iteration product would be to add risers for VESA mounting, a few more usbc tb4 ports and a brighter nit screen. Maybe even have an option to exclude the base stand. I’ve bought a lot of lg monitors over the years and I never use their stands long term. They’re not reusable when you upgrade too. I’ve been using the same arm for over a decade now. As great as the stand is for this particular monitor, I still prefer a fully adjustable arm. I’m actually considering buying another to chain but I’m sure 1 is more than enough for most.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not "perfect" spec Needs: more Hz for gamers (72 is on low side now) Gsync version Unnecessary expense: speakers (people have 5.1, 2 with more watts, or headphones)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product except serious eye strain/fatigue [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded from LG 27UD58 to this monitor a month ago. As a IT worker, I don't use many fancy features of this monitor. The pixel density, ultrawide format, ergonomic stand, and rich connectivity options with TB4 and 96W PD really make my working life easier. The main problem is with my eyes. After switching to this monitor, I cannot consistently work over 1 hour, with serious eye strain, fatigue and dry issues. However, there was completely no such issues with my old LG 27UD58 monitor. The reader mode or extra glasses alleviates a bit. But you have to bear the very yellow color. Settings are not available, like the automatic brightness is not adjustable, low blue light cannot be turned off. Hope they will include these in next firmware upgrade. At the moment, I have to disable the automatic brightness because it is always too bright comparing the environment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Potential I really want to love this monitor. It has a lot of utility and would be perfect for graphic production given the 40" size, 21:9 aspect ratio and pixel density. There is one major problem with it though. It is just not bright enough. 300 brightness level is just not enough for high end productivity. It needs to be at least 400-450 with better contrast (1000:1). I would love for it to have a refresh rate better than 72hz, but could probably live without it. I just can't see keeping this with subpar brightness and contrast for the money spent. It has so much potential, but sadly just falls short.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not great display While I enjoy the size and higher resolution of this display, the overall display quality seems average - lacking vibrance and brightness, especially in HDR modes. Expected more at this price point.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Its a Lemon. Its a lemon. Beautify when it works. When the screen door/flicker starts, it sucks. Especially when you are working and cant walk away to let it clear (which is appears to do after a few hours.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broke down in month 6; let's see if they fix it The monitor stopped functioning after 6 months and showed no images on the screen. Called LG and they sent a mailing label and I've yet to hear back on the return date (it has been a week).
Date published: 2022-09-26
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I do not recommend it. It was a nice monitor when it worked. Thunderbolt port failed shortly after the one year LG's manufacturer warranty. I consider trashing it for it is ungodly expensive to repair. I would not buy it again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly executed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Giving this thing 1 star because it will not transmit video over the thunderbolt connections. Tested with multiple cables and multiple windows laptops. Works fine on my wife’s ancient Mac though… I’ve reached out to support and there has been no response. I’ll be returning if it’s not resolved asap.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Okay when it works, but extremely disappointed The experience started out okay for a few months then it just died. The monitor went out to service for the thunderbolt input dying once already. The unit worked for a few days and now we are back to no input being detected. Both times this happened the monitor was in use and then died. This occurred with 2 different computers. It is NOT the computers being hooked up. The HDMI port still works, but refresh rates suck at high resolution. I wish I could completely get my money back at this point.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A great idea that's imperfectly executed The good? On average, the display is sharp and renders colors accurately. The bad? It's not bright enough if your room has windows and receives a fair amount of ambient light. It also doesn't work with Macintosh keyboard screen brightness controls, even though my previous LG monitor did. The Really Bad? Mine failed after only 11 months in service. I'm hoping for a quick reparir or replacement, so fingers crossed for a positive outcome...
