LG OLED vs LG QNED

LG TVs are known for their stunning picture clarity. However, when you go shopping for an LG TV, you might notice a lot of different acronyms floating around that could be new to you. The two top screen types that you'll find on many LG TVs are OLED and QNED. Read on to find out the differences between these two types of LG TVs, and to figure out which one might be best for your living room.
What is an LG OLED TV?
LG OLED TVs leverage OLED screen technology to help bring all of your favorite TV shows and movies to life. OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode. To put it simply, every LED light behind the screen of an OLED TV is able to turn itself on and off as needed, and they are able to operate without a separate light source. This allows them to display true black which helps with color correction, and makes everything onscreen look a lot better. These TVs also have excellent refresh rates that tend to be 120Hz or higher. That means the image on the TV will refresh more frequently, allowing you to see more in each moment of your favorite content, or, if you're a gamer, motion in your games will look more fluid, and there will be less input delay between your controller between your controller and your TV, meaning your actions will appear faster on the display giving you an edge over your in game enemies.
What is an LG QNED TV?
LG QNED TVs use advanced display technologies to bring you beautiful on-screen colors. These are LCD TVs but they also make use of LG's NanoCell technology. This technology improves picture quality by filtering out impure colors before they reach the screen. On top of improving on-screen colors, NanoCell can also open up more viewing angle opportunities since the image quality will stay consistent even when you're not watching the TV straight on. These TVs also use a mini-LED backlight layer instead of a typical LED backlight. Mini-LEDs are roughly a fifth of the size of a typical LED. Since they're so small, you can fit more mini-LEDs into a TV, which will allow your screen to reach greater brightness levels and a better contrast ratio than other TVs. When these technologies work together, you'll get vibrant and detailed images that add new life to your favorite content.
Which is Best: QNED or OLED?
If you care about your display technology but are more budget conscious, a QNED LG TV might be the right option for you. The various technologies present in a QNED TV make them a great choice for any living room at a great price. However, if you want top-of-the-line screen technology, no matter the price, then OLED is probably best for you. OLED TVs bring you the best of the best in terms of visuals and will add incredible detail to everything you see on screen. Regardless of the LG TV you choose, we hope you enjoy your new TV and have fun on movie night!
