Easy Install & Summer Saver!
With multiple heat wave warnings in NYC this summer and an old AC unit that wasn't working, our apartment unit was a greenhouse and in urgent need of a new air conditioner. After much research, the Midea U was a no-brainer as a new and innovative AC but most importantly, easy to install and works great in the home! First of its kind, it took about an hour to install only because I installed it myself but instructions were very easy to follow with a YouTube video that provides step-by-step detailed explanation. Upon installation, not only does it have a professional, clean and premium look but it cooled my unit in what felt like a matter of minutes. If you're in the market for a reliable, quiet and quick cooling AC unit where you can also open the window for some fresh air, the only unit this would be (safely) possible, I would highly recommend the Midea U!

Absolutely the best money I've ever Spent!!!!!
We have a split level cabin and the upstairs never gets cool enough in the summertime for us so we've always ran a 8,000 btu window unit to help with the central air conditioning system But this thing is Amazing!!!! I has much colder air coming out of it and so QUITE!!!!! You dont know what you are missing if you have a old traditional window unit This one is 100' time cooler 100 times quieter And no more expensive than any unit on the market I can't say ENOUGH GOOD ABOUT IT GO BUY ONE YOU WONT REGRET IT!!

Amazingly quiet !
It is soooo heavy that I've damaged the fins trying to install it. The brackets that hold it up outside didn't match the angle of my roof that it rested on. Aside from those important facts, it is the quietest machine in its class. I can sleep without noise distraction. I've owned it for 3 years.

Excellent Air Conditioner!
I am a 63 year old, single woman and I had no problem installing one 8000 BTU and two 12,000 BTU units. I have another 8,000 BTU unit on the way for my bedroom, so I will have a total of four in my house. I thought it was very easy to install these units and never even had to go outside to do it - I did it all from the inside. I did use some thicker AC unit foam to seal the bottom of the window to the unit - that made it even easier to get a perfect seal. I bought these AC units as a backup for my main HVAC system. Since these units use little power, it will be possible to run all of them from my generator if the power goes out. Since I have parrots it is important for me to keep the temperatures at a perfect level for them if the power goes out. I can easily control all three AC units from the APP, which shows the current temperature setting as well as the current temperature of each room. It will also be very easy to add my fourth AC unit to the app after it arrives in a couple of days. I have tested the three current AC units the last two days and they work very well - my main house AC (HVAC) unit has not kicked on a single time (set at 75-degrees) and the temperature has hit 97-degrees outside. You can cool with the "Cool" setting or the "DRY" setting. The dry setting removes humidity and will also make the room very cool - in some smaller rooms it can even make the room a little bit too cool, since it apparently does not stop at the temperature you set for the AC unit. The "Cool" setting also works well and will easily reach and hold them temperature you set the AC on. As I said, I currently have three of these units, two 12,000 BTU units, one 8,000 BTU unit and another 8,000 BTU unit on the way. There is a reason for that - they are excellent air conditioners that cool extremely well, are very easy to install, and easy to control. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

I was intimidated when I unboxed it, but a friend sent me a YouTube tutorial she found and lent me her drill, and before I could say this heat wave is killing me, I was lounging by the window in a pleasant 75 degree breeze that sounded the same as all the fans I'd been roasting under all last week. This is such an awesome design, and it looks nice in a prominent location in my little apartment. My window is slightly too wide for the included brackets, but I adapted using all the tons of foam and other extra installation materials they include and didn't have to purchase anything. It's a heavy unit so I recommend following their instructions for two people to actually place it on the installed support brackets. But I didn't have anyone to help, and I'm a woman and I managed the whole thing myself. I'm convinced the bad reviews are phonies from other window AC manufacturers who are afraid of disruption. This is the first time I've owned one, and I would never buy anything else. Hopefully they're working on future models for smaller windows, that's the only thing I think might make this not work.

We purchased this one month ago. It is the quietest model of window ac unit we've ever used. If it didn't keep the room so cool, we would have to walk over to check to see if it was running! Very easy install, very easy operation. If this were made as a reversable unit with heat it would be perfect for year round use.

Super quiet and efficient
I've bought 6 of these for my rental properties. I was going to go with mini splits for the quiet and the efficiency, but these are just a mini split in a window air form. I would say they make around 1/3 the noise of a normal unit. They compete with a nice ceiling fan for noise and the bill on my drafty 1880's 2500 sq/ft house is probably half of what it once was. I've actually spent about 10 minutes in aisle at Menards recommending these to people and explaining that for the extra $100 they will get their money back the first year. If I were to change something, it would be great if the bracket and underneath the AC should be better insulated. I probably will have to remove these units in the winter to prevent a draft or spend an hour each on weatherstripping. You don't get enough in the box. Removing the unit means removing the whole bracket and that will be a pain every year.

Best window AC
last year i had to spring for an AC because mine crapped out and my co parent was 7 months pregnant. This thing not only was better than the one we had, it brought down the energy bills, now it's the only thing that cools my house, and it's at least twice the size or more of what it can cool. And it still manages to keep the whole house cool enough. Last year energy bill was 180., only 40 this month. Big deal imo.

Greatly surprised at the level of quiet
Had to buy an emergency AC for sleeping while my main 10+yr old 3ton unit died and needed replacement in Central Florida during our recent middle august 96+ degree heatwave. Installed the unit, plugged it in, and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the unit was, while rapidly bringing the 350sqft room's 90 degree temp (AT 11 PM) down to a nice dehumidified 80 degrees in about an hour.

Quietest Window AC Unit Ever
Easy to install, had mor confidence I would not drop unit out of window! This is by far the quietest window unit I have ever owned! TV will be back at normal listening levels without having to raise and lower volume every time the unit cycles. Don't let the odd shape and bracket deter your purchase. One thing to consider, you will need to do something about the sides, if you use blinds they will stop at the unit. I used the black foam side AC panels that were available at my home center, problem solved. First ever review for a window AC unit.

Ok this is NOT a paid endorsement. I'm not an HVAC professional, but it's a hobby (like, I read ASHRAE handbooks for fun). These units are remarkable. The U-shape makes them less restrictive on light than a hose floor AC unit. And their efficiency is at least twice of a floor model. A key to them being quiet is that all the "noisy parts" are on the other side of the window. Which is just this sort of frakken obvious thing that you wonder why it took anybody so long (which is often the case with really good ideas). It just works. I just bought a second one for my home office.

A quantum leap above the status quo
So, at the end of June 2022, my central AC decided to stop running in the middle of a heat wave (of course it did, why wouldn't it? O_o). After spending two days without AC, and an internal home temperature of 89 degrees, I had had enough. Decided to pick up this unit based on the great reviews, and Energy Star most efficient rating, and I am very impressed so far. So impressed, that two days later I picked up a second. One is installed in the front living room, and the other is installed in the Master bedroom. Those areas allow for the greatest amount of airflow, and with a ceiling fan keep the entire home very comfortable (both units set at 73°F during the day. 70°F degrees at night). It's now the middle of July 2022, and after 30 days I can honestly say these units are hands down remarkable. I even checked my utility bill, and saved $150.00 on my cooling expenses!! The units aren't super heavy, maybe 60 lbs in the box. Installed easily, and are extraordinarily quiet during operation. I clean the filters as recommended every two weeks, (and because I want to take really good care of them I have thought about perhaps fabricating an accessory shroud filter for the compressor, condenser coil, condenser fan, and power electronics in the exterior section.) to keep dust, and debris out of the external part of the unit.

Was worth the extra cost.
If you're living like me you know what you want to spend then you see this. Yes it's worth it, when I leave the job site I open the app and Boom! it's nice when I get in the door. Fully controllable through the app and remote. And boy is it quiet. My gf sits near the a.c. and her headset (online gaming)would pick up the old one. Not this thing, there's no cranking up your TV to hear it. Incredible A.C.

Picked up this 8k btu for our bedroom after our central air became inoperable. I needed quiet ac operation, so i purchased an inveter style window unit. I did some reading and found the midea had the best price available. Completely blown away on how quiet and efficient this unit is. Watch a you tube vid for installation tips . Directions plus a vid help the overall installation process. The product is a modern looking design with swinging louvers and a pretty nice remote. More light enters the room because of the U shape design. One person can install the 8000 with no problem.(50 lb lift). I find that the temp reading on the display to be a few degrees higher than actual room temp., just compensate for the difference and all is fine. Beautifully quiet and powerful enough to easily cool an average size bedroom or living room. If your in the market for a window ac,definitely look at the Midea lineup. They are a bit more costly than the traditional window shakers because of the inverter technology. If you need quiet operation and efficiency,then the midea inverter ac is just the ticket for summer heat. Very glad i made this purchase while i contemplate my central air repairs.

The best there is available!
I've been a refrigeration technician for 30 plus years, I've installed and repaired just about every type of air conditioning/ refrigeration system available at one point or another. Two years ago I picked up 2 of the 8,000 btu for my cottage that's just over 600 sqft built in the 50's and I'm pretty sure there no insulation in the walls or if there is it's no longer doing its job. After owning several different manufacturers, sizes and types of cooling systems throughout my life these are hands down the best money I've ever spent on an Air conditioning system. I put one in the livingroom and one in the kitchen and the bedroom is in-between them, I've been able to get the entire place down to 64' during a couple high 90's during the day and low 80's at night with high humidity 3 plus days in a heat waves here in Boston, Ma. I usually set them at 70 to 72. The rule of thumb is if your central a/c unit has your house 15 to 20 degrees lower than outside then it's running fine, so with that said if it's 98' outside high humidity and inside is only 78' but you have it set at 72' it's actually running fine and doing the best it can given the situation. These Midea U window shakers are the best hands down for capability and noise, I can even hear my neighbors window unit running while sitting on my couch there so quiet. They're penny's on the dollar to run which is the best part about them and if I needed to I could hang beef in my place they get it so cold. They already paid for themselves and I highly recommend them to everyone who asks me what system would I recommend or install in my own place. There should be a shooting star rating for products that are above and beyond their competition because these systems are out of this world for value, capability and quality! Best AC Window unit EVER, and I've had a few
My main comment in regards to this AC unit is WOW! This one replaced our older LG that had been in place for I guess 7 to 10 years. It was pretty noisy. Install on this one is pretty easy, but READ the instructions. It comes with a window sill bracket that has feet against the outside wall so you can set the level, and it does not require any additional support. It also comes with enough spacers and rubber seals so you don't need to hit the hardware store. It has a feature to allow the window to open or close, but I did not use it, don't want any burglars poking around. It needs a wall outlet, 15A I would guess. I saw one review that says it can't be used with a GFI, but that's what we have, and it's perfectly happy with it, so I don't know what their problem was. What does the unique U shape give you? I'll tell you, almost absolute silence while it's running. I had to go outside and listen to the compressor just to make sure it was running. This is one unit that will not bother your ability to sleep! In the default mode the fan is allowed to operate over a wide range of speeds, so when first on it's at fast speed, then as the room cools, it slows down, and it gets whisper quiet, amazing. If it gets too cool, it will even stop and wait for a bit before it whispers some more. Absolutely GREAT!

This is absolutely the quietest window air conditioner I've ever come across! And COLD air!! It freezes me out sometimes and I'm a fat guy!! I cannot recommend this little gem enough! My Brother got the 12000 btu version and completely stopped using His old central unit! Electric bill has gone way done for both of us as well! Midea has done it again!!

I use it to cool a 345 square foot bedroom/bathroom. {8,000 BTU Model}. It barely runs at all. Also my electric bill has dropped from when we were using a GE window AC.
