In wall outdoor covered use.
Replaced some older in wall outdoor speakers. Definitely an upgrade and sound great. We’ll have to see how they handle Ohio winters.

RC85i - Get them! Excellent sound!
I just added RC85i to home theater room. Wow! The RC85i give us the true surround sounds feeling of emersion into the shows and movies we're watching. I've already jumped out of my seat a couple of times with the excellent sounds I'm receiving. I"ve got it RC85i as surround back speakers in the walls paired with an AVR-X2700h. all of it fabulous!

OUTSTANDING SPEAKERS
I have had my 3 sets of 2 speakers for over 20 years. 2 in rear wall of living room wall for surround sound with a set of Polk Tower speakers in front (30 yrs old). Set of 2 in ceiling of enclosed patio no heat 365 days/yr. Now this is the most unbelievable set of 2 in the soffit outside patio for back yard and pool area. Powered by Denon receivers 1 on patio and 1 inside living room. I have replaced 2 receivers both inside and outside. SPEAKERS STILL WORK WONDERFULL. I can rock the neighborhood. POLK Thanks for great speakers.

Incredible sound
I placed these in our master bathroom. They were super simple to install and absolutely rock and are moisture proof. Will upgrade the rest of our in wall speakers with these.

Sounds great outside
I purchased two sets of the RC80i speakers: one for the balcony and one for the lanai which is directly below the balcony. Both are connected to an Onkyo TX-8050 via Russound volume controls. The speakers are all mounted in the ceilings. The two balcony speakers are about 20' apart from each other; same with the lanai speakers. The ceilings are hallow and since you can aim the tweeter the sound is very rich...even outside!

My dad had 4 of these jus sitting in one of the rooms in our house, i decided to check them out. THEY WERE AWESOME WHEN I HOOKED THEM THROUGHT OUR STERO!! my dad got them for a lot less proce, and when i saw the price for a brand new one i was stunned! I wanted to try to use it for a P.A. speaker, but that wouldn't be a good idea because it's small in comparison to standard P.A. speakers. I definetly recomend this speaker to anyone who wants surround sound. I myself am going to make 2 cabinets for the 4 speakers my dad owns so that in the summer when we are listening to the radio, we can use polk instead of bulk XD!

My buddy told me these were very easy to install. He kept telling me what a smart design the locking mechanism is. They sound great. The Omni directional tweeters make up for any problems that might arise from less than ideal speaker placement due to shape of your A/V room. My ceiling is textured white, so these speakers almost disappear until you turn them on.

Installed a pair of these yesterday as my primary speakers in a small vacation house. Installation was very straightforward and was completed in just over an hour. I am very impressed with the sound quality of these, especially for the price!

We installed 8 pairs in our new house. They sound GREAT! I am running 4 in our great room with a 404 sub. It really makes the room good for all around use. Music, cable, gaming etc. The rest went into a master bedroom, master bath, computer room, kitchen, dining and garage. We have a dedicated theater room so I felt like I was "cutting back" using celing speakers on the main level. Was I ever shocked to see this kind of performance! Awsome bang for the buck!

These speakers are excellent. I bought 4 sets of these to be placed in my kitchen, family room, dining room, and the master bedroom. I am using them for music throughout the house.
I am quite eclectic in my collection of music so the speakers I needed to have should handle a wide range of sounds. I play everything from classical guitar to chirstian hip-hop. In all forms, the music is crystal clear and bass response is very good. And with low amount of volume to them, they fill the room quite well.

Great for all around listening. No regrets - just crisp clean sound. I run a Carver amp and the RC80i provides clear highs and solid bass at all volume levels.

I just bought a new home and paid extra for the sourrond sound pre-wire. The problem was that the speaker wire was in the ceiling. After doing extensive research on speakers that could be used in the ceiling for sorround sound, I chose the POLK audio. These speakers are everything I could of wanted. They sound AWESOME!!!

The speakers are exactly what we wanted. Just installed them in our living room and they look and sound great. Installation could not have been easier. We are using these for general listening, not surround sound, and they work perfectly.

Installed 4 of the RC80i into the ceiling of our living space floor (Open kitchen, lounge, dining). Got to say I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sound. OK, it's not at the level of my tower speakers but for the purpose of background music covering a large area they are awesome.

I was surprised at the price I got these babies for, and I was even more surprised when I heard the sound. Especially the lower tones the base sounds are really thumping. I replaced a pair of Boston Acoustics for my new POLK AUDIO RC80i in ceiling speakers, you have to ensure you have the correct settings on your amp/avr or whatever it is you’re connecting these to. The only reason why I didn't score it a 5 star is because the instructions weren’t specific enough as to which cut-out pattern to use, so my bro-n-law and I didn't want to take any chances, so we used the smaller pattern first only to find out we had to use the larger cut-out pattern, so live and learn right, for the second speaker installation it was much easier. The sound rocks, I’m using a old PIONEER VSX-D812 which allows me to switch A or B speakers simultaneously or not cause I installed the B.A. in the master bedroom. AND, hmn I think I may change them out for another pair of POLK AUDIO ceiling speakers. I almost can't tell where the base thumping sound is comming from it sounds as if it were comming out the walls.

Purchased these for surrounds and surround backs and and very happy with the sound and the ability to point the highs (tweeter) to the seating location. I've got these mounted in the ceiling and unlike some of the other reviewers, didn't have any issue with the grill removal. I originally had the monitor 30's suspended from the the ceiling but didn't like the looks due to the clunkiness of the monitor 30's. I therefore removed the 30's and purchased these RC80i's as they're voice matched to the monitor line. I have the monitor 50's for fronts, cs1 for center and DSW Pro 500 for sub and very satisfied with this combination.

Plastic clips Break-cheap framing
Love the sound quality and speakers! Do not like how cheap and fragile the plastic clips/screw design is. These speakers are not meant to be installed and removed, if so the clips are so fragile that they will break. Meaning even if you are doing a mock up install can damage the clips. I can say you can try and be as careful as you want to be, but they break off so easily. Wish they spent a little more time to make it out of metal, or beefier.
