Many of the Premier freestanding ranges we carry come with an assortment of nifty features. Most models come with either open or sealed burners. Open burners have exposed heating elements, and sealed burners have covers over the heating elements. Generally, open burners heat more evenly, and they provide more temperature control. Since sealed burners are covered, they tend to be easier to clean than open burners. Some models also include special burners that may help with specific types of cooking. Typically, special burners are found on Premier's higher-end, gas-powered ranges. For example, Premier's power burners run on 12,000 or 15,000 BTUs, and you can use them to boil water and cook meals more efficiently. If you're simmering a sauce, you might like to use the simmer burner to keep your sauce at a low temperature. Premier's simmer burners use 600 to 6,100 BTUs. Depending on the model you select, your Premier range may come with a backguard that's made of porcelain or tempered glass. You can choose the material that best matches your style. The backguards on Premier freestanding ranges are also available in several different heights. If you don't want a large backguard, you can opt for a model with a backguard as low as 1.5 inches. Some people may prefer taller options. In that case, you can choose from models with backguards as tall as 10 inches. Some Premier freestanding ranges also include a storage drawer underneath the oven. The storage drawer has a bar-style handle that makes it easy to open, and it's a full-width drawer. If you have a smaller kitchen and need more storage space, the storage drawer is ideal for storing casserole dishes, roasting pans, baking trays and other large cookware. Since the storage drawer is located underneath the oven, make sure you only use it to store cookware that's safe to use in the oven.
