Samsung HW-Q990F: Revolutionize Your Home Theater

It takes movie nights, gaming, and music to another level with its immersive sound and smart features.
Right out of the box, it delivers room-filling surround sound that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the action. Explosions have weight, dialogue is crystal clear, and background details come through in a way that brings everything to life. It’s truly like having a high-end home theater without the hassle of setting up a bunch of speakers. My older video games feel brand new playing them through this sound bar, I can hear even the smallest details going o in the background of the game play.
One of the best things about this soundbar is its wireless Dolby Atmos. It creates a 3D sound experience where effects move above and around you, making everything feel more realistic. Paired with a Samsung TV, it gets even better thanks to Q-Symphony, which expands the soundstage and makes everything more immersive.
The bass is deep and powerful, but not overpowering. Samsung has included an extra subwoofer to help balance things out, and it really makes a difference. You get that satisfying rumble in action scenes or while listening to music, but it never drowns out voices or other details.

Amazing All-In-One Soundbar!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung HW-Q990F has far exceeded my expectations. The 11.4 channel system is super immersive and almost feels as if you’re completely surrounded by sound in a sphere. The bass is loud and clean especially with the Bass Enhancement dynamic control feature.
The dialogue is clear with Active Voice Amplifier Pro and SpaceFit Surround Pro. However, Voice Enhancement was kind of harsh and fatiguing, so I turned it off. Moderate bass is a nice feature to quickly turn bass off instead of changing woofer level while still getting a nice sounding low frequency boost at soundbar. One feature that would be nice to add is the crossover frequency for the sub and speakers to minimize sub localization.
One complaint I have is that you can only EQ with bands in Standard mode (7.1.4 max channels) and not Surround mode (11.1.4 max channels). The setup sounds so much better EQ’d, so it is a bummer you lose out on 4 channels if you stick with EQ’d Standard mode.
While the price is on the higher side, the performance justifies it for those looking to upgrade their home theater. Plus, you don’t need to run wires or buy a receiver. I highly recommend this soundbar. It is one of the best I’ve heard.

Cinema Sound at Home

The all new Samsung Q990F soundbar has claimed the crown again and deservedly so. This soundbar system is sleek, stylish, elegant, and will give you that true cinema experience at home.
Upon receiving the soundbar I unboxed everything which were all nicely packaged. Setting up the soundbar was easy since it just required plugging in everything and connecting my game and TV source thru HDMI and it was all ready to go. Connecting the soundbar to my Smartthings app on my S25 Ultra was easy and allowed me to control the soundbar without having to worry about the remote.
Now what makes this the best soundbar is the sound that it produces to make it feel like you're at the cinema. Upon watching something you immediately know the powerful sound that the soundbar can fill the room with. Explosions can be felt, speeding cars can heard beside you, and dialogue will feel like its in your presence. The soundbar has a lot of great modes that can be switched to suit whichever media you're watching such as adaptive sound that changes the sound with different scenes for example. Space fit sound pro plus is really cool because it maps out the room the soundbar is set in to adjust the sound profile to the best for the room. Game mode pro also made playing the PS5 more immersive and fun. I'd also like to add that the new double subwoofer design looks awesome and produces bass that packs a real punch, kudos to Samsung.

The best gets better!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've spent the past few days with the newly released Samsung HW-Q990F, and it's safe to say this system seriously impresses on all fronts. Coming from the HW-Q990C, which was already a powerhouse, I didn’t expect such noticeable upgrades—but Samsung delivered.
Design-wise, the Q990F looks nearly identical to the Q990C, but the top panel has been cleaned up a bit, giving it a slightly sleeker appearance. Nothing major, but a small refinement that feels nice.
Now let’s talk about sound—because wow. The clarity and separation on the Q990F have jumped to a level that genuinely feels close to high-end separate speaker systems. Whether you're watching a movie with complex surround effects or just listening to layered music tracks, each element stands out with precision. The soundstage is wide and immersive, with pinpoint placement that adds a cinematic depth you don’t often get from a soundbar system.
The subwoofer deserves a special mention. It’s compact but manages to produce incredibly deep, loud, and controlled bass. In dynamic movie scenes or bass-heavy music, it hits hard without being muddy or overwhelming. Compared to my Q990C, the bass on the Q990F is slightly less punchy, but it makes up for that with better texture and responsiveness—it’s more nuanced and dynamic, which adds to the overall experience.
I also appreciate the visual EQ and settings through the SmartThings app. It’s not perfect, but it gives you easy access to tweak the sound and fine-tune the system without diving into complicated menus.
That said, I do have a couple of small gripes. I wish the bass had just a bit more raw punch like the Q990C—it’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something I noticed. And for a flagship soundbar, it’s disappointing that Samsung still hasn’t upgraded the remote. With their high-end TVs getting solar rechargeable remotes, it feels like the Q990F should’ve gotten that treatment too.
Still, those are minor complaints in what is otherwise the best flagship soundbar experience I’ve had. The HW-Q990F takes everything great about its predecessor and refines it into something even more impressive. For anyone serious about audio and home theater, I don't think there's a better option in one box.

Powerful, Easy multi-channel surround sound system
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Samsung has proven once again to be the home entertainment king. I recently received my Q series 11.1.4ch soundbar and rear speakers, and it has in under a half an hour turned my living room into a pro home theater soundstage. All I had to do was plug in each component to power, attach my TV, and turn it on! (There was one hiccup that required me to hold down a button to pair my rear speakers, but that took 20 seconds longer!)
I have played games with 3d audio and run a few different dolby atmos video tests - all of it sounds immersive and powerful. And I'm thrilled to have all of the soundbar's settings managed by the SmartThings app. No more switching inputs to the soundbar to adjust settings, then switching back to content, repeat... Now it's all done in real time, allowing me to A/B test different settings right from the app.
I really enjoy the automatic sound field adjustments that calibrate the system to my room. I don't have to be an audio engineer to now have properly calibrated sound, and that is a HUGE plus for me.
Finally, the subwoofer design is minimal but open. You can see the woofers on each side, which honestly looks really cool.
I have nothing but positive things to say about this sound bar, so if you can live with the price: buy once, cry once, and then enjoy your audio experience immensely every day thereafter.

I've been using the soundbar and the two speakers regularly. The sound is clear and crisp. There is no lag or echo of any sort. Great System!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What an unbelievable sound system! This blew me away the first second I hooked it up and played content to test it. It was pretty easy to set up and I only needed two people to attach the rear speakers to the speaker stands I purchased. So far a very immersive experience. It did take some tinkering with the settings to adjust to my setup. The bass is very intense, and I did feel I needed to turn it down with some content. The surround sound brings movies, music, and shows to life for a truly incredible experience. The space fit pro plus and adaptive features help to adapt the experience to your specific room for a tailored sound experience. The subwoofer is great and supplies good bass. The wireless Dolby atmos and q symphony are not available for me as I don't own a Samsung TV, so I can not comment on these. Overall, it was a great experience with all the content I've used it for. A good investment for someone who is looking to upgrade your sound experience.

The wires for the speakers are all the same, so you don't have to figure out which ones go to the soundbar, which ones to the speakers, or the sub, and so on. Once I turned it on and heard the Disney startup, goodness gracious, I was very impressed. Bass kicked in nicely, even though it is small, it packs a nice punch. The subwoofer has dual drivers, so the bass low is pretty impressive for such a small sub. The surround sound is just a pleasure to hear. You are taken right into a movie. The dialog is fantastic. It's crystal clear without having to turn up the volume to hear what is being said. I really like the wireless speakers, I didn't have to run wires all over, although I was a bit skeptical. While watching movies, the speakers did not drop out at all. Superb sound coming from all around. I have yet to dial in the sub and speaker levels which will make an even more impressive feel.
One problem I did have was connecting to the SmartThings app. I have a unifi network and spent hours trying to connect. I eventually figured it out by changing WPA3 to WPA2 and disabling PMF. Once I did that, the soundbar connected with no issues.

Samsung soundbars never disappoint
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to get my hands on the Samsung HW-Q990F. Let my preface my review - This is my 3rd Samsung soundbar upgrade in their high-end line. First I had the Q950A, then the Q990C, and now the Q990F. The Q990F will be placed in a finished open basement on the left half, where the right wall doesn't keep the sound enclosed in the half basement listening area.
Want to talk about being an easy setup. I plugged the soundbar in, then the rears, then the sub, and they instantaneously linked together. The blue lights on the sub and rears became solid blue right when I plugged them in. I added the Q990F to SmartThings and was immediately controlling the soundbar. I turned the system on and it was working perfectly.
One main point is the size/configuration of the subwoofer. It is much smaller than previous subwoofers, but it's heavy and built solid as a rock. It has a woofer on either side instead of a single one. I used to think bigger was better with the size of a sub, but I was mistaken. I watched a few scenes from several movies known for solid Atmos, and the bass was quiote impressive. It's tight, and I could feel the bass. I quickly tuned in SmartThings the various levels of all speakers to compensate for the room, and it sounded awesome. The surround surprisingly filled the room. I was surrounded by crisp and clear sound, coupled with the punchy bass.
The Q990F rivals any mid-level amp/speaker setup costing more, and is much quicker to setup and much more compact. I cannot stress how great an alternative to a typical audio system that could cost more than this soundbar alone. I highly recommend the Samsung HW-Q990F!!

Loving my 2025 Samsung HW-Q990F Soundbar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I work 10 to 12 hours per day, 6 days per week on an 8K Samsung QN800B TV (you can see it on my desk in the photo). Wanting to add an equally-incredible audio experience, I picked up the 2025 HW-Q990F Soundbar.
From the moment it arrived, I was impressed. The packaging was secure, and unboxing each piece — the main soundbar, wireless surround speakers, and subwoofer — I could immediately tell the build quality was top-notch. Each component feels premium, with a solid weight that hints at the powerful magnets and quality parts inside. The sleek, black design looks great with my setup, and the remote control mirrors the TV’s remote in both style and ease of use.
Setup was a breeze. I connected the soundbar to my TV using the HDMI eARC port, plugged everything in, and hit the pairing button on each wireless component. After one quick power cycle, everything synced up perfectly. My Samsung TV instantly recognized the soundbar, and I was able to activate the Q-Symphony feature in the sound settings. This feature combines the TV’s built-in speakers with the full surround sound system for a dramatically wider sound stage — and it works flawlessly. There’s absolutely no lag or audio delay. Everything is perfectly in sync. The subwoofer delivers deep, rumbling bass with zero muddiness.
For the past week I've been listening to high-bit-rate music, watching live basketball games, streaming my favorite shows, gaming on current-gen consoles, and revisiting beloved movies. The wireless rear surround speakers combined with Dolby Atmos soundtracks bring a whole new dimension to the experience. Hearing sound move across the room — even above and behind you — is nothing short of incredible. My spouse and child have also been blown away when I've demoed the setup to them. I've even continued to get most of my work done during this time ;)
Lastly, the built-in smart assistant integration (she who will not be named) is icing on the cake.
If you're looking for an immersive, top-tier surround sound system — and especially if you own a Q-Symphony compatible Samsung TV — I can’t recommend the HW-Q990F enough. This is a solid A+, two thumbs up, 100% win from Samsung. Great job once again!

Plug and Play Powerhouse Surround System
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you, like me, are big into dolby atmos or surround sound music, video games, and movies, this is not only one of the easiest and most reliable systems to install, it also has a better sound right out of the box than several more expensive systems after significant manual tuning. The setup process takes very little time, plug in power to each speaker and HDMI to the tv or other source and you can get started right away. The Samsung SmartThings app is also easy to setup and gives quick access to SpaceFit Sound Pro and the Sound Modes that really level up the listening experience, as well as options to make voices stick out in the surround mix more which is essential for many new movies and TV shows where voices are lower volume. I owned a previous model of the q990 series and this is a substantial improvement. The smaller subwoofer performs better than previous models, producing crisp controlled, yet booming bass while fitting in much better into any setup (it's footprint is hardly bigger than the two surround speakers!). There are also some design upgrades that give some life to the main soundbar as a displayed speaker on an entertainment system, specifically the coloring and texture on the top grill is beautiful and gives a distinguished look to the main soundbar. Compatible with Dolby Atmos, HDMI 2.1, AirPlay, and Alexa built in, this soundbar is fantastic for not only movies and games but also music. I particularly am impressed by the surround system's performance on Spatial Audio tracks through music streaming but the adaptive mode with stereo mastered tracks also does an incredible job at separating instruments and parts cohseively and creates a pleasing surround sound experience with any audio source. My main takeaways from this product are the fantastic sound and the ease of setup. It's a surround sound system that I would feel equally ready to recommend to my parents or my tech/music enthusiast friends as a setup for their home theater spaces.

HW-Q990F: Effortless Setup and Immersive Sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After unboxing and setting up the Samsung HW-Q990F, my first impressions were overwhelmingly positive. The build quality is excellent, and while the soundbar is larger than my previous one, its size feels justifiable given that just the bar houses 15 speakers. Despite its impressive speaker count, it remains surprisingly compact.
What truly impressed me right off the bat was how effortless the setup was. It couldn't have been simpler—unbox the soundbar, surround speakers, and subwoofer, connect the power cables, and everything pairs automatically. I was bracing myself for the usual pairing hassle, where you need to hold down specific buttons or go through an elaborate process for each component. Thankfully, that was not the case at all; the setup was quick and seamless. To make things even more convenient, enabling SpaceFit Sound Pro automatically calibrates the system to your room, eliminating any need to manually adjust speaker placement or fiddle with calibration settings.
Having watched a couple of movies and enjoyed some March Madness games, I can confidently say the sound quality has been exceptional. Voices are clear, natural, and easy to understand, even during fast-paced action scenes. The soundstage is immersive. While the surround sound setting delivers a rich experience, I found myself preferring the adaptive sound mode. As I understand it, the adaptive sound feature uses Samsung's proprietary technology to upscale the 5.1 signal and make full use of the 11.1.4 channels, enhancing the surround effects. Even watching basketball feels more immersive, with stadium sounds dynamically coming through the surround channels.
The soundbar delivers exceptional sound quality, a user-friendly setup experience, and impressive future-proofing with features like Eclipsa Audio. Whether watching movies, sports, or enjoying music, this soundbar makes a compelling case for anyone looking to elevate their home entertainment experience.

Samsung HW-Q990F: Ultimate Home Theater Sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung HW-Q990F has completely transformed our home entertainment experience. From the moment we set it up, we noticed a huge improvement in sound quality. The new design with horizontal lines on top gives it a sleek, high-end look that blends perfectly with our setup. It feels like a premium addition to our living room.
One of the best things about this system is the surround sound. Even though we have vaulted ceilings, which aren’t ideal for home theater audio, the sound still fills the room. My wife and I were watching a show recently, and for the first time, we could actually hear the difference between Dolby Atmos and regular 5.1 sound. The depth, clarity, and movement of the audio made everything feel more immersive.
I also have a Samsung 85” Class QN90C Neo QLED 4K UHD Smart TV (2023), and the Q-Symphony feature is really impressive. The way the TV and soundbar work together creates a perfectly balanced and powerful sound experience. The Wi-Fi connectivity, which is only possible with a Samsung TV, is another great feature because it helps with cable management, making the setup much cleaner and more organized.
The subwoofer is surprisingly small but very powerful, making it easy to hide while still delivering deep, punchy bass. The whole system is incredibly powerful. We can only turn it up to about 20% in our condo without worrying about the neighbors. When my friends come over and I turn on the soundbar, it feels like I have a professional sound system installed. The volume and clarity make it feel like a concert in my living room, which always impresses everyone.
Overall, we’re extremely happy with the HW-Q990F. The sound quality is outstanding, the design is sleek, and the subwoofer is compact yet powerful. If you have a Samsung TV, this soundbar is a perfect match. If you’re looking for a true home theater experience, this soundbar is a fantastic choice.

Still the Undisputed King of Soundbars
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's pretty rare that the new model of any technology gets smaller and better at the same time. I was pretty skeptical when I heard the Q990F was decreasing the size of the subwoofer while also making upgrading it to a dual woofer but they did it.
The subwoofer is insanely compact and more powerful than any single unit sub I've encountered.
The support for Dolby True HD and DTS:HD make the most of your lossless 4K Blu-rays for the true home theater fanatics and the heights effects add an extra dimension on the streaming services that support it like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Paramount+ to name a few.
This soundbar sounds Eclipsa audio but as a brand new format, there isn't a lot of content to test it out with but nice to have a future proof soundbar, since this will show up on YouTube in the coming years
The main unit and the satellites are really sleek and create a wide sound stage with good surround effects.
The calibration and dialogue boost options really help complete the home theater experience as does the Q-Symphony feature if you have a Samsung TV to connect it to.
The power of the Q990F makes you think twice about going to the movie theater if you have nice enough neighbors to really let this baby rip.

Next-Level Home Theater Sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This soundbar blew me away. Even with my LG OLED, the HW-Q990F delivers incredible surround sound — it actually feels like you're in the movie. The Dolby Atmos and rear speakers create a super immersive vibe, and the wireless sub packs a real punch. Dialogue stays sharp, even during intense scenes. Setup was smooth, and it works great even without Q-Symphony. If you want big theater sound at home, this is the one to get.

One of the Best Soundbars
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you are looking for a quality soundbar and want to experience the best theatrical sound, check out the 2025 Samsung HW-Q990F model. It is Samsung's top of the line soundbar and is loaded with support for the latest audio codecs like dtsX and Dolby Atmos. The Q990F soundbar will also support Samsung's newly announced Eclipsa Audio format, developed with Google, though its real-world benefits remain to be tested. I played a few movies and demos and man the sound stage was absolutely stunning.
Samsung has improved a lot of things in this new soundbar: the subwoofer has been redesigned and is much smaller compared to the previous model, however don't let it fool you. It features dual 8-inch opposing drivers, which Samsung claims reduces vibration while delivering precise bass down to 32Hz with 300W of power.
The setup of the soundbar is easy and is done with the help of the SmartThings app, though it is optional. I would highly suggest utilizing the app as it opens a huge world of many options not available on the supplied remote. If you have a Samsung TV released within 3 years, you can also use the soundbar with addition of the speakers of the TV. Samsung calls it Q-Symphony. It simply creates a powerful sound and one has to experience it.
All in all, this is one of the best soundbars that produces powerful enveloping surround sound that will be a joy to experience for every movie or a soundtrack you throw at it.

The Best Just Got Better
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 6th Samsung Dolby Atmos soundbar. I have the flagship 990 model from the last 3 years. Every room in my house has a Samsung Dolby Atmos soundbar, because the sound for the form factor is truly unmatched. Usually year to year there is an incremental change at best, but this year is the exception. First off, the aesthetic has been completely reimagined. The soundbar has a gorgeous titanium grill pattern that provides a sleek and clean appearance. Secondly, the subwoofer has been redesigned. Instead of the traditional large rectangle, this year features a more compact cube with two 8" drivers instead of one. The result is deeper, richer bass that seems to have punchier mids as well. The HW-Q990F is also the first soundbar I know of to include Eclipsa audio decoding, which is an open standard version of 3D audio. This means that content creators will be able to record in an atmospheric surround format that includes height channels. Samsung is, once again, at the cutting edge of technology with this soundbar, and I anticipate will will see widespread adoption of Eclipsa audio in the future. The overall sound of the HW-Q990F is something you have to hear to believe. It is truly a theater experience from the comfort of your home.

Setting the Bar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Samsung has released their latest flagship soundbar for 2025. I was able to test the new 11.1.4 soundbar for about a week to get some preliminary thoughts on the premium soundbar.
Samsung made a few changes on their flagship soundbar package this time around. Starting with going with the new titan black color over graphite black. The soundbar actually looks less premium in my opinion. The greyish color sticks out under my 2022 Samsung 65-inch tv. The system packs 23 total speakers, this is up from 22 with the new dual 8-inch speaker subwoofer.
Soundbar
The soundbar itself is slightly thicker and has ridges on the top. The overall design is similar to the other soundbars of old 990B-990D, but this version seems like Samsung wanted to go with “if it aint broke” approach.
Subwoofer
My biggest concern was the subwoofer’s design change. The subwoofer is now more compact and comes with dual 8-inch drivers. Samsung opted for the compact design over the taller box design with their past soundbars.
Wireless Rears
The wireless rears retain the same design language from past years. Front, side and upward facing speakers that produce a great all-around sound.
Features
The HW-Q990F has a jam-packed list of features. I would suggest pairing the soundbar with Samsung’s latest television to get the most out of the system. Wireless Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony are back and better than ever. SpaceFit Pro handles calibrating the soundbar in your room. The system has 4k 120Hz passthrough for all the gamers as well.
Sound
The HW-Q990F performed really well with everything I threw at it. I wasn’t sure if the new compact design of the subwoofer would perform well with heavy bass laden tacks.
To some degree, the subwoofer sounded better than the HW-Q990D’s sub. The subwoofer provided some deep bass while watching movies with Dolby Atmos enabled tracks.
I can’t wait to test and hear more about the Eclipsa Audio support. I’m looking forward to this new open-source standard to test the new soundbar’s limits. Music sounds fantastic on the bar. I listened to different tracks across all genres of music for hours, and I was impressed with the sound delivery.
Conclusion
Samsung continues to set the bar with their premium soundbar. Feature packed with
all the latest bells and whistles. Since this is an early review, I’m sure to find many more gems and/or quirks to detail over the coming weeks. Well done Samsung for setting the bar and maintaining it.
