Best flat top grill ever
By far the best flat top grill I have ever purchased! Easy to cook with and easy to clean. I had been looking at this grill at a local hardware store for the last six months. That being said, I had compared all the other grills and I had narrowed it down to this one. Glad I made the purchase. Good job guys!

Great Griddle!!
The Flat Rock is far superior to the Blackstone I have! The side shelves are great, the cook top is easy to season, and temperature is very even left to right as well as front to back!

Great griddle - my new favorite way to cook!
I recently purchased the flatrock after a lot of research on different griddles, and am quite happy with the purchase. It's my first griddle, but after the seasoning process, I've been using it several times a week with excellent results.
As some have described, the cook surface is a little rougher than on some other cast iron and required several extra layers of seasoning to get smooth, but I suspect this also makes the resultant surface more durable. Others have also described uncomfortable heat rising from the grease trap, which I don't find to be an issue at all. The location of the grease trap does slightly reduce cooking area, but also makes it more convenient to clean the surface (overall I like the position). Others have also complained about the optional cover; I don't see an issue with it, it seems reasonable quality, goes on easily, and fits well.
The flame sensors and propane gauge are very nice features. The propane gauge tracks remaining fuel by weight rather than by pressure, so is a lot more accurate than most other solutions. Others have mentioned that the propane mount feels cheap and poorly designed, but it seems completely fine to me. The propane tank is suspended on a hook which is how it measures the weight.
The heating on the griddle is extremely even when measured with an instant-read thermometer. After preheating, temperatures rarely vary anywhere across the surface by more than a couple dozen degrees F. From what I've seen from other research, this is pretty unique. It makes it easier for a griddle beginner like myself to keep track of zones. Speaking of which - the zone isolation seems to work very well. The even heat also makes seasoning a breeze; it easily developed a slick, deep black patina across the entire surface. (Seasoned with grapeseed oil.)
The design and layout looks well-thought-out. The shelves are large and spacious (plus the P.A.L. rails) but fold down to a compact size. Even when folded, some P.A.L. accessories can fit on the rails in some places so they don't always need to be removed. The grease chute passes through the combustion chamber so viscous greasy bits remain liquid and don't get stuck. The listed BTU output is lower than many competitors, but this is more than made up for by the flatrock's great efficiency (less fuel used, more cooking heat, less waste heat making those summer days less enjoyable).
Overall this seems like a great griddle, and I'm happy with it. Although, there are a handful of minor "fit and finish" issues that aren't big deals, but things I wouldn't expect at a premium price point. Things like:
- The battery compartment for the 9V battery is thin plastic and wouldn't actually hold in place under its own weight with the battery; it looked like the plastic tab was a bit too small. I sculpted some JB Weld around the tab to make it fit better and let it cure overnight, which solved the problem.
- One of the fuel knobs is a bit "sticky" and doesn't always "pop out" on its own after being pushed in without being nudged. This doesn't really affect the operation, but has a slightly inconsistent feel from the other 2 knobs.
- One of the two rubber grommets on the lid wasn't seated all the way and came off when I opened the lid. Easily fixed by pushing it back into its hole using a slotted screwdriver.
- The adjustable leveling feet are nice; but if the wheels are screwed in more than about halfway, the leg cap makes it difficult to access and tighten the jam nut.
- The grease chute isn't quite centered under the hole in the cook top, initially making it a little annoying to scrape off the spatula in the trap on the left side. Easily fixed with a little bit of force to bend the chute into place.
- During assembly, the legs are very loose and wobbly when first connected. This isn't actually an issue as they were later stabilized by the leg braces, but it was confusing that the assembly instructions didn't mention that the legs would still be so loose initially after attaching them. (I probably ended up over-tightening one of the legs, which isn't a functional issue at all, but may make it difficult to remove the leg if I ever need to.)
These are all minor issues; and overall, I'd definitely choose to get this griddle again and recommend it to others. The issues are all very minor (likely quality variations specific to my particular item) and none of them affect the actual cooking performance, and this griddle is likely best-in-class.

Amazing grill, not so amazing cover
I’ve had my Flatrock for a few months now and I love it. Performs very well and the P.A.L rails are awesome. The cover on the other hand, not so awesome. I expected the quality to be similar to the one for my smoker. It says it’s water proof but I wouldn’t even call it water resistant. After Hurricane Hillary my Flatrock was completely soaked. Just like Hurricane Hillary wasn’t as expected, nor is this cover.

Great Quality.
I just purchased the Flatrock. I must say it’s amazing. Much better the my Blackstone. I love the fact that when cooking on the Flatrock. I don’t smell like the food I’m cooking. A+ Traeger.

Yes. Better than Blackstone.
I debated for months on the right “Blackstone” grill. THEN Traeger rolls this out, and much of it is better thought-out than the Blackstone. The heat zones are predictable - no hot spots. The u-burners produce FAR better results. The front drain vs. back on Blackstone took some getting used to so I wouldn’t lose food down there, but it’s a better position. AND - the seating of the cooking area is much better - no wind impact. All in all, the mechanics are well thought-out. Some first-gen issues are minor (occasional cracks on front plastic panel / afterthought propane brace) but Traeger makes good on them. Outstanding customer service. Your Blackstone die-hards won’t want to admit it’s better, but as they fall asleep at night they are trying to think of a way to sell the Blackstone and upgrade to the Flatrock.

The Holy Grail of Flat Top Grills
My friends have a Blackstone and went on and on about how wonderful it is (except for when it’s slightly windy and cools the griddle down) and I knew I needed to find a better flat top. The Traeger Flatrock is just that. The first time I used it, I cooked an entire smash burger dinner for 20 people in a matter of minutes, complete with bacon and grilled onions all cooked on the Flatrock. The temperature is consistent, it cooks evenly and there is no concern that any wind will ruin your cooking experience. I’m incredibly impressed with this machine and look forward to using it for many years to come. Now Traeger just needs to make a waterproof FULL SIZE cover for it (and please stop defending your crappy design for your original cover, it’s not very Traeger of you) and it’ll be complete and utter perfection.

Amazing Flatrock
We have used our Flatrock 2 times and it is great! Very easy to clean; food we cooked was simple smash burgers, asparagus, and mushrooms with onions delicious!
One thing is why did I purchase the extra items that go on the rail which seemed like a great ideal Traeger, but in order to use the Flatrock cover we have to take the hooks and towel holder, cup holder all off. I wish they would make a cover that would let you leave those things up on the rails. Otherwise it is perfect and a super investment!

I Love my Flat Rock more than my Dog or my truck!
Bought my Flat Rock 2 days ago and I don’t really need to use my kitchen until winter. This flat top is so convenient and easy to use. I really want to do YouTube cooking videos because of it, but I’m so pretty, I would break the Internet machine.

Best in Class!!
This grill has been a hit since day 1! Set up was straightforward. I would recommend a little extra seasoning, but that comes with using the grill. it gets smoother every time it's used. And videos from Traeger, Flat Top King, and Meat Church provide plenty of ideas for the terrific ideas beyond smashburgers! Compliments to the Traeger development team for a summer of '23 home run! Still have lots to learn, but that's half the fun!

Amazing quality!!!
This is by far the best griddle on the market. Other griddles may get the job done (if the wind doesn’t mess with your flame…not a problem for the Flatrock) but you will definitely tell the difference in craftsmanship with this extremely fun to use griddle. The Keg makes it so easy to keep clean and propane sensor assures you will never run out of fuel when cooking. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase. What you would expect from Traeger.

Super awesome
Ok this grill is so awesome!! Seriously so nice. The quality is top notch which is to be expected from traeger. I have had a smoker now for years and have never had a problem with it and don’t expect to have any with this one either. This thing is built like a tank from the box it came in to the ease of putting it together. I have been cooking on a black stone for the past couple years and so far with only one cook the flatrock surpasses the quality for sure. Very happy with the flatrock so far.
