[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After having a countertop microwave for many years, we decided that an over-stove unit would be a good change. We did have to make some changes before installation; an outlet needed to be added, since our previous over-stove fan was hard-wired, and we had tile partway up the wall, which needed to be trimmed down for solid installation under the exhisting cabinet. A regular undercabinet microwave would have been too close to our stovetop, so this one gives us what we need in the space we had. The Low Profile Microwave Hood Combination offers a quite strong fan, which we needed. Although still vented indoors, our old fan never put out the air flow that this unit does, pretty impressive for a small unit like this. I really like that the filters can be washed in the dishwasher rather than have them soaking in the sink and scrubbed. The microwave size itself, is great for people who mainly heat vegetable side dishes, microwave popcorn or reheat meals. We never used our previous large microwave for more than that, so it was just taking up a lot of counter space. The functions have worked well, but it was still a learning curve to understand how to program them after using another microwave brand for years, but these are becoming easier. I'm glad a reference is printed on the interior rather than looking it up in the manual. It's so easy to open with the touch button, although using an elbow would be an effort, as the microwave is higher than comfortable for making that contortion! As others have mentioned, the built in over-stove light (we thought it was listed as halogen, but it is an LED) could be somewhat brighter, (we've added a USB rechargeable, magnetic LED bar to amplify the light). The chime is fine (however, we do wear hearing aids). The bright interior has been easy to wipe down. We think It has a very stream-lined appearance where before there was just an overstove fan.

It gives me more room between stove & microwave but didn't think about being raised up. I can't see into container & have to take it out to stir contents. Even if you're tall, there isn't enough room inside to stir something. But I like the look so it's worth it.
