Why I Chose a Nectar Mattress

I just celebrated 16 years of marriage, and it made me realize our mattress is even older than that!

We were way overdue for a new mattress, so I decided to start researching our options online. After searching far and wide, my conclusion was that the mattress best suited for us was Nectar. There was just one problem: The thought of buying a mattress sight unseen  or rather, surface unfelt  was very intimidating to me. I'm a bit of a Goldilocks when it comes to beds: The feeling has to be just right. While it sounded super convenient to buy a mattress with just a few clicks and have it delivered right to our home, I really didn't want to take the plunge without testing it out in person.

Here is why I fell in love with Nectar mattresses and wanted to try them out in person:

• The Tencel Cooling Cover: Not only does this cover promote air circulation and heat wicking, which is amazing for a hot sleeper, but it is also bedbug-resistant! Amazing!

• Body Support: Nectar is known for being a great mattress for people that suffer from back pain. My back always hurts, so I was excited about this. It is one of the firmer memory foam mattresses on the market and is made out of high-density polyform, which gives ideal body support. The gel memory foam helps spread out your body weight and contour the body while relieving pressure points.
• Firm Edge: Another big reason I was on the fence about memory foam mattresses was because past experience taught me that simply sitting on the bed made the edges of the mattress curve down. It wasn't supportive. With the 4 layers in the Nectar mattress, you get coziness when you lay down, but when you are sitting on the edge of the bed it stays firm and it doesn't dip at all.

Nectar had 3 mattress options to choose from, and I tested them all during my visit to P.C. Richard & Son.

The first option was their Nectar Classic, which is the most affordable option. It has a 12" profile, new-and-improved cooling, and a removable washable cover. I really liked this style, one reason being the height of it. So many memory foam mattresses are too short and don't work well with being nightstand height, but this one rose to the occasion. On the firmness scale, it's a 6.5 out of 10. I like a firm mattress so this was good for me, but my husband likes something a bit softer. We passed on this one, but overall it's a great mattress.

The second option was their Premier mattress which has a 13" profile, dual-action cooling, and a removable washable cover. I really liked this one! It's different than the classic mattress because it has an extra inch on the profile in the form of transitional support foam. It gives the mattress more of a bounce. It's also slightly softer, but you feel less like you are sinking in due to the bounce. It also has better cooling action. There is a thin layer of phase-change material beneath the cover. This layer pulls heat away from the sleeper and helps regulate body temperature  perfect for a Goldilocks like me!

The third option was their Premier Copper Mattress which has a 14" profile, dual-action cooling, and removable washable cover, with the added bonus of copper threaded through it. What do the copper threads do? They dissipate even more heat from the body! I enjoyed this mattress as well, but after testing them all out again, I decided it was just a bit too soft for me.

Our winner: the Nectar Premier mattress! Not only did P.C. Richard & Son give us a quick delivery, but the mattress was already expanded upon arrival, so there was no need to wait hours for it to fully unfurl.
